Yeah-had many engines sealed over the years- usually in minis the seal goes through the engine plate & timing cover so headgasket replacements not an issue.

I remember qualifying fifth outright for a Konica V8 supports at Oran Park GP one year( 2000/01) & finished high enough that Lloyd Cleaver( after last race) sealed the bonnet to the body & subframe to body so they could check the engine before it was touched in any way.

Now that's being thorough !

C mon Ben we want to see those dusty minis washed & raced-excuses stop when the flag drops hey..?
Time those titanium rods & aloly turret get used in anger on your brick....

Ben T thanks for the beginners guide to Group A &C... interesting stuff about originality etc.... the handicap Group A and C race at the Qld Winter Historics was a good spectacle... Mr Holden ( of Bathurst mini fame) took the honours..... don't know if all the entrants were trying but it was a fitting result.
In terms of the future of racing, it is going to be a hard balancing act to keep entry fees affordable, grids full and cars/competition realistic.. and i think verifying of engines etc would be quite acceptable by just about all competitors ( fast and not so fast, light and non dieting etc) , however i wouldn't like to see all the tricks revealed ( not cheating but ingenuity should still be rewarded)

I would like to think that on some racetracks some of the time the Group N mini's will do well, whereas on other tracks the bigger boys and girls will run away from the rest of us.. but i also like the idea of just lumping all mini variants together to allow racing, i don't really care if they are honda powered or corolla turb0s or sports sedans or binis (but the jury is still out on mokes:)) , and maybe it is self-organising groups (like a mini only race) that will help keep lots of cars racing.

On this matter , the QLD historic entries - of about 240 entries - the biggest class - regularity, followed by Group N ( 40 something) , 19 Group a and C, which i think are good numbers-

sorry to have taken away from the topic of original thread.. i hope Rocky gets his car racing :)

It would be good to let Group U run with Group A & C at the Muscle car masters. More minis on the track.

AB you have been doing this so long I reckon they could seal your bonnet, toolbox, esky and workshop doors and youd still be .. fast!
You know the Ti rods are far too pretty to put in a motor, they went straight to the pool room. As for the ally turret I am happy to cop that cheap shot on the chin as long as it takes the focus off the "skinny" doors for you!

Had a quick look at the green jigga and theres way too much dust!.
