I believe that there was at least two shades of OEW used by BMC in the '60s.

So as to avoid confusion in this discussion I assume you mean BMC UK, not Australia?

I think it's important to establish the complete range of colours for Oz cars. To date that's been confined to those listed on the paint colour and trim sticky. If anyone has evidence of a colour that was used on an Australian produced vehicle, other than what's shown on the paint cards, then I'd like to know.

I have some BMC UK paint cards that I can post if anyone's interested. Old English White is listed.

Yes, as mentioned earlier OEW is a BMC UK colour. In early 1961 it was one of the three colours the British could select from if they wanted a Morris Mini.

The converted colours would be a nice addition to the how-to... Anyone know a method to get these quite simply?

Here's a link to the UK paint cards on Mark Forster's excellent site - http://mk1-performance-conversions.co.u ... _chips.htm

Some more about paint, including mixing formulas here - http://mk1-performance-conversions.co.uk/pdf/paint.pdf

I'm pretty certain that this Mini K has been done in MINI pepper white. Note the MINI badge too.

This used to be my sister's car - but it didn't look anywhere near as nice then!

That looks very nice, Tim. Such a classic colour. I've not seen that bonnet badge before. I just bought one for my Mini K on ebay for $48. They are hard to find.

I'm very pleased I started this conversation. My supplier called back today and he had been given BU15 as the paint code. Using the link to mk1 performance colour charts (thanks Winabbey) I confirmed that the code was correct. so happy days. I have both colours sorted. I'm going with the BMW Pepper White and the British Smoke Grey.
Thanks very much to each of you for your input and guidance. I'll post a picture of the car once it has been painted.

HI Winabbey
Just started to restore my 997 cooper i was told by the man for 997 coopers in vicoria that my one was possibly the 10th one made in australia body No 859 it was smoke grey with a cherry red roof, seen a few smoke colours they all look like they have a lot of blue in in the colour, the original colour in mine(up under the dash in the boot behind the body plate is more of a grey than the blue grey i have seen on other cars.

On the subject of paint I have just searched with no luck for the engine colours, do we have a thread anywhere with this info and paint codes or any suppliers it can be bought off?

The engine colours (and wheel colours) are on the BLMC page 16 sheet here - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=66469

I know Mini Kingdom Online has the various engine paint colours in stock in cans for spraying and brushing, and also now spray cans. Maybe other Mini parts places do as well.
