I know simon k said you should be able to get bearings that will do the job, but a while back i took all the bearing numbers in to a bearing shop. When i gave the man my sheet of paper with the numbers he knew what they were for and told me you can't get the bearings for them, only the clutch idler bearing. I didn't actually need them i was just thinking i might replace them while i had it apart.

So if someone does find some bearings, share the info please.

Also Marty, I would be a bit suss about those lobes. That section with a chunk missing out of it, i would be concerned more pieces would start to come off = very bad. Might be worth getting a supercharger guru's opinion on that.

Cheers Matt,

I know the bearings at the gear end are impossible to get, I'm hoping the ones at the pulley end are easier! (Fingers crossed) the NSK number I have for the bearings I need are: U17-1 & U17-2 and the Koyo numbers: 03NU0518-14 & 03NU0518-7 if you have an SKF number I'd greatly appreciate it?

As for the lobes I'm hoping (finger crossed again) a very light and careful sand will smooth them over and stop them from getting any worst! I'm gonna take the lobes to work (with a case of beer) and hope one of the engine gurus can help (they work on Rolls Royce jet engines all day) :D

Sorry, i'm not sure what ended up with the numbers i had. It was a year or 2 ago and i'm not sure what i did with the paper. Would have been the same numbers you already had though i think.

No worries Matt, I just have a personal preference for SKF bearings! I'm not holding out much hope of finding any bearing but I'll let you know how I go.

If all else fails I'll handball the box of part to Rodney, he's my magic Mini mender  ha ha....

If course, a man needs a drink when he's sat back watching you work your magic

Looks like I've hit a brick wall with the bearings, spent all day yesterday driving around Perth looking for them (I had fun driving the Mini all day). I ended up at a place in O'conner called Precise Motion as I was told a guy named a Mark was the bearing guru, I was told if he couldn't get them no one could!

Mark certainly knew his stuff and knew all about these bearings (he last had a set in 2011) he has put out a world wide request to find them! So fingers crossed, if this doesn't turn up anything the Supercharger idea will be scrapped :(

Scrapped! dont be silly. You're working on an old piece of machinery going into an older one! Any maintenance engineer will tell you in light of an unobtainable part you fabricate the solution. Get your Mark to name a bearing that has the closest specs and use precision spacers. While you're at it. put together a kit and ebay is your friend!

Good idea but Mark was telling me others have tried and failed! NSK made an aftermarket bearing many years ago (part# U17-1 & U17-2) but it couldn't handle the heat and RPM that were generated and they withdraw it to protect their reputation.

In saying that I do like a challenge :D

I wish I had the machines jason.... one power ball... ..

Marty bring me all the bearings and let me inspect them.

Seems a shame to scrap the supercharger.

Or if you are gonna scrap it im more than happy to dispose of it for you... lol

Just make them shiny for him Rodney and whack them back in. No need to scrap it, was working fine when removed. Got to watch these pilots mate, time wasters like everything to be just so... :P

Thank God I am a time waster, if I'd strapped the SC straight onto my nice new shiny motor the fuel/air/rust mixture being forced into it would have made the poor thing fart!
