The silver is silver in colour, it often looks gold in photos but it is silver, it it may well be actual silver, as used on mirrors.
I've tried using silver paint, but it doesn't work, you are looking at the underside of it anyway, which just looks grey. There is a product called 'looking glass paint', which can be painted onto the back of glass to get a reasonably convincing mirror finish. It may be no good at all on plastic, but there's only one way to find out.
