2000-2500 400? Come on people get your facts straight.

Green/Gold/Pink? there are enough original cars still around to prove that Mini K engines were painted both Green AND Gold, depending on the year and if its a sedan or a van.

Oh hang on, apparently they didn't make K vans.

Will you get over it.
When I said that I was quoting the factory books in an effort to find out the truth.
The marketing people called them a K van, the production people called them a Morris Mini 1100 Van. What does the parts book call them?

Remember, your mate Mowog claimed that he had one of each but couldn't actually come up with a prefix for the other one.

So how many did they make? You seem to know all the facts.

I dont know Michael, maybe ask John Sneddon, he seems to be the only one on here with any credibility when it comes to numbers.

I'm pretty sure the vans and sedans had different coloured engines which would go along with the different specs for the two engines.
Sedans had a 10YC/Ta/H/ prefix.
Vans had a 10YJ/U/H prefix.

The question is what was the prefix and colour of the Morris Mini 1100 (base model) motor?

The base 1100 Mini had a van prefix engine. I had one (and shouldn't have sold it). I'm 99% sure it was light green.

Here's a link to a K the powerhouse museum in sydney has. There are some really good pics. (The engine is gold on this one, but that is by no means definative) It may clear up an arguement or 2 (or start some more)

The proper Mini K Sedan, The engine was Painted Gold, The Vans And Government Sedans, like Police Station Cars & the base model sedans, The engine was painted Green. If The engine Number Prefix is 10YCTAH The engine Colour is GOLD if it is 10YJ the engine Colour is metallic GREEN

So could these engines be characterized by being poverty pack magic wand gearstick units?

Yes Mick that is spot on, a lot of people over the years have purchased a poverty pack, and then fitted the remote, and made a few other changes, and hey presto a Mini K with a green engine. A lot of second hand car dealers back then made these changes, to get more money for the car and make it look less like an ex government car.

So the debate goes on! It is my clear memory that my '71 Mini K purchased NEW as well as my '73 Leyland Mini S also purchased NEW both had GREEN engines! I do wish I still had both cars so I could take a photo, but regretfully both are long gone. Unless we can get Dr Who to help out we are all going to have to agree to disagree.
