Yes. In through the grille, out through wheel via the radiator. Mine used to get hot too in traffic so I turned the heater and heater fan on. I roasted but the engine was nice and cool!

What temp thermostat do you use in Australia.
My Cooper S seems to run a little cold in New Zealand so thought I'd change the thermostat.
Any thoughts or info.

I was finding mine had a tendency to be below normal in winter so I went up to 84. I think 82 was the standard here in Australia. Lower if you lived in northern Aust or tropics. I've found still ok even through summer though.

It always amazes me how some cars struggle so much with overheating. I guess it's often a combination of things adding up.

Yes ....but... even with the fan around the wrong way it will still blow the right way .....but not as efficiently. The shape of the blades are designed a certain way so it's still worth checking the fan is correctly fitted.

I think there is a explanation in the "how to" section on the correct side to face the motor.

I put in the 2 core alloy radiator and put back the 6 blade metal fan ( its in the correct way)
The car still runs "hot" on a 25c day like today it climbs to 95c when sat at the lights for a few min.

When the motor was pulled apart we checked the water pump and it was fine, no corrosion or anything and its a high flow one too.

My gauge was reading hot but my engine was running fine. Found out that some senders require a resistor in the circuit.
I had to put a resistor in circuit to get the gauge to the actual temperature reading I was getting from an external thermometer. Hope this helps.
