I lifted one out the other day without a head on, I just put the lift bracket on the 2 studs and screwed the head nuts right down. The studs are hi tensile, they won't bend. Well, mine didn't!

Good qual welded chain might be safer for the home mech...tie downs are terrific but you often don't know what real rating you are getting "these days"...when in doubt double up your tie downs

Thanks guys,

Which is the best engine lifting bracket I can buy as don't have the means to make one at the moment?

I used one like this using the centre front head stud. It put the engine/remote gearbox at the right angle to get it out.

Thanks,

Looks good and sounds like you used only 1 which makes sense. I don't want to strain my head studs with 2 pulling inwards as the head is off. Doc reckons OK to lift on exposed studs without the head on, and the engine will be lighter without the head!

You could always loosely bolt the head back on?
