Hi Guys,

I just had the same problem registering MSCOMM32.OCX on windows 7.

I followed the instruction on the link below and was successful.

http://scn.sap.com/people/firoz.ashraf2/blog/2014/10/02/how-to-registeractivate-activex-component-mscomm32ocx-on-windows-7

If you are running Windows on 32 bit machine Copy the file that you have downloaded to C:\Windows\System32 folder.

However, if you are running windows on 64 bit machine then copy this file in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder

How to activate / re-register MSCOMM32.OCX from an elevated command prompt (Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8):

1. Click the Start button.
2. Type "command" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
While holding CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, hit ENTER.
You will be prompted with a permission dialog box.
Click Yes.
3. Make sure you have changed the path to C:\Windows\System32 if you are on 32 bit machine
or C:\Windows\ SysWOW64 if you are on 64 bit machine
4. Type the following command: regsvr32 /u MSCOMM32.OCX
Hit ENTER. This will UN-REGISTER your file
5. Type the following command: regsvr32 /i MSCOMM32.OCX
Hit ENTER.

If this gives any error the type the following regsvr32 MSCOMM32.OCX
Hit ENTER. This will RE-REGISTER your file.

6. Close the command prompt window.
Re-start the system.

I hope this works.

Cheers Jason

AH! ok, don't keep coping the file, it makes no difference and may stuff things up.

What I want you to try this time ( I should have mentioned it before ) is find the CMD icon in the menu system, from memory it in START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES.
when you find it Right click on it and select Run As.. Administrator.
then redo the last set of steps I sent you.

Cheers
Maelgwn

I still got an error after doing this but when i tried Accuspark it worked. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

woot! :D no worries, I'm glad I could help.

Once I overcome the issues around having to use the mini purchase funds for other things  , I'll probably be knocking on your door begging for help with this or that! might even go down the Accuspark path too

Regards
Maelgwn

I used my dialback timing light to map the modded advance curve in my Pulsar dizzy, then programmed that into the black box. It worked fine. I have since adjusted the bottom 2 points for better starting, other points are still much as they were. I am very happy with power, smoothness & fuel economy. :)

I also managed to get Accuspark running on my Mac mini today with the help of a friend (and virtual box and Win7!).
Happy days....
Plus the friend was able to get it running on my daughters old netbook (which had previously eluded me). This is the only PC we have in the house besides her new laptop. Everything else is Mac or iPad. So I have two options at home plus my work laptop all now working and communicating correctly!

You're a Genius Jason! Was tearing my hair out as to why it wouldn't work on the Win7 Laptop. After following this it worked like a charm!

People are beginning to realize how easy and accurate it is to program the advance curve using this STEALTH Black Box Kit. I am finally starting to sell a few. Glad you sorted the problem out Chong.
PS.
NEVER USE A BOSCH GT 40R COIL ON a 12 Volt system without and external resistor.

But if you do, and the coil gets hot and plays up as Chong's did yesterday, is it totally buggered?
What happens inside, will it work properly afterwards if a ballast resistor is added?

I have been using the Bosch SU12R coil on my unit since new now Tony (about 3 years maybe?), I think it is 1.4 Ohms and hence more current draw than a GT40R which is 1.5 OHms resistance. No trouble to date.

Have they changed spec?

From the website:
http://www.accuspark.co.uk/fitting_guide.html

Quote:
1.b
Before fitting your AccuSpark it should be noted what type of ignition system is fitted and that a suitable coil is correctly fitted.
Only coils of more than 1.4 Ohms of resistance are suitable. Low resistance and electronic ignition coils are NOT suitable and will invalidate any warranty.
A coil fitted to points will work either way around, this is not the case with electronic ignition. It is imperative that the coil is checked for fitting and suitability.

The coil will have 2 spade terminals one - and one +. Remove the wire/wires from the + terminal, with the ignition on, these should show 12 Volts, this is the feed. The negative side to runs to the distributor, the negative side may also have a taco fitted.

I managed to get it working on my Macbook Air by dual boot using Boot Camp. The Air is slightly lighter than my Toshiba Tecra which weighs about 4kgs lol

Lillee moving into "i" age! Might have to call her iMini

When I last looked it didn't. Maybe check with accuspark UK direct, but I would think not. Win XP or Win 7 is the latest they used to state worked.
