yea i was thinking cap and rotor. What about plugs and leads?? Maybe when the plug or lead heats up it is malfunctioning.

My in laws has a boat (purchased new) several years ago. They had the exact same prob with it conking out at random...one time we were all out on Syd Harbour and it conked out.....Water Police had to tow us into a jetty   They dragged us into Rose Bay!!! Very embarrassed.

.....anyway, after taking it to the boat builders no less than 10 times for the same prob, they ended up finding a rag in the fuel tank!!! It was being sucked up onto the fuel pickup at random, causing the boat to stall.

Check your fuel tank for foreign debris.

NB: The 850 shell that Kev sold my inlaws had a plastic funnel neck inside the tank. Someone must have dropped it in when filling the tank from a jerry can!!! So it CAN happen!

Ha. Found 6 rags & a ciggy packet in a work truck tank

Had a similar boat problem: 10km out, lifted seat & changed tanks, conked out after 2 mins.
Lifted seat, checked everything, conked out after 2mins again.
Changed tank, same thing. Starting to worry :?

Discovered rubber fuel line was under the edge of the seat
& fuel got cut off every time someone sat down

Yep did similar to that on my red clubby took the washer bottle off so it was easier to change rubber cones, put it back on again tested the washer motor and it spins but no water I had pinched the tube to the washer jets when I screwed in the bracket for the charcol canister :

mine wasn't as perculiar and had to find as yours though, that would be real annoying to try and find

ben i noted that it sez electric fuel pump ......
people just have a quick glance and dont read it alll....
if it happens again listen for the pump and is it ticking nice and even or is it screamini its heart out
if screaming like a banshee one of two problems could cause this
1 at low level of fuel if you have a buildup of crud in your tank it could be covering the outlet for the fuel
nextr reason is the diafram in the pump is nakerd

for $50 I would be getting a NEW SU mechanical pump like I did. Operating it manually out of the car shows how much a new one pumps in comparison to an old one!!!

Could also be crap blocking the filter strainer in the tank.
Put a drain tray under and slip the hose off the pump for a few secs. If it pisses out, OK.
If it dribbles.... :x
 Cure is shove a rod or something up the pipe and hit with SFH to bust the mesh. 8)

Have you checked the fuel flow?
Have you checked the fuel pressure?
Have you cleaned the carby?
Or have you just spent a lot of money and wasted a lot of time by changing bits that didn't need changing?

My answer is to take the car to Allan Ross at Allan's Wheel Alignments and get him to fix it.
He is a great bloke and knows more about minis than most people. He raced minis in England before he came to Australia

-fuel pisses out of tank so thats not it
-i have changed the fuel lines as they were all differnent sizes
-have changed the pump as the mechanical one needed a rebuild so i just bought a electric one
-have changed the filter as it was very dirty

so i have not wasted my money really so it has to be a block in the carbie

alens wheel alignment- i work there every second saturday 8)
