From http://classicregister.com/id-pages/how-identify-1978-leyland-mini-1275-ls

"The front seats in a 1275 LS also feature an adjustable base, to slide the seat back and forward. This feature was unique to the 1275 LS, being more advanced than the seats installed in the 998 LS. A slightly different lever on the side of the seat used in the 1275 LS to fold the seat forward, for rear passenger entry."

Yes, no dispute with that.

Below is a part of the engineering drawing for the late Clubman crossmember (HYE0484) that shows the eight projection weld nuts (MYH0221) on the top of the crossmember, as well as those on the front. It's very poor quality so I've cropped it to show the side, end and top views of the part.

Also below the drawing for the nuts themselves. Hope it's of interest.

By the way, the crossmember is made from .039" steel CR CQ, whatever that is.

P.S. Click on an image to get a larger view.

Thanks Winabbey. Those nuts are the ones. 0.039" is 1.5mm, which seems a bit heavier than what we have.
Anyway. We'll have to come up with a plan. (And one to last another 38 years  )

Mine has the same issue. As the seat and bracket moves slightly when you sit in it there is constant cyclic stress on the thin sheet the nut is welded to. After a while they crack.

I would suggest a plate on the inside of the cross member to distribute the load as it will reoccur if you just repair it back to original.

Hi Winnabey

How many of the clubbie engineering drawings do you have access to?

Quite a few, but of varying quality. If I see a topic where a drawing I have might help I post it.

They were always too damned thin to last. Should have been 1.6mm.
There again nobody expected Minis to last over 50 years! ;)
