Okkher so a major achievement for me. Its crazy , i have no idea, and i got the zorst system and all that off. all good,
but then this 2" pipe with that thing, i assume its a filter of some sorts, i cant get that down in the very small hole that it needs to go. And i gave up

there isnt anything more i can do myself.
I thought about hacking up the pipe and maybe going around the cylinder thing? but then no. i tried all angles of insertion, and i reckon the only way to get it in that way is to loosen the engine and then poke it in at the same time, - something that i cant do.

so ill go and talk to a few people tomorrow, and see waht they have to say.

So eventually i got all bits and pieces back together. Missed a few bolts, missed a few things that needed many unscrews and re screws, in hard to reach places, THat is very annoying :x But in the end i think it is all back in place :P MAYBE!!

only trouble is there isnt any cable throttle cable that i can poke in the screw hole. Its too frayed ot not enough and i cant get it in  not even a small bit, So the acc. lives on the floor, and i cant drive at the moment,

I was going to cut the cable up a bit to get more solid wire?
Should i do that?
Do i need a great lenght of wire to come out the back> I dont thinks so just enough to get held in??

If not ill just buy another cable and put it in?
cant be that hard? If so then ill have a go anyways.

So Really having no idea at all, i pulled a bit of mini to bits, and put it back together, and all ive got to show for it?

NOTHING  :) just cuts and scratches and filthy hands and annoyance!
i call me a 'No idea Mechanic'

oh and a gasket is that 'papery' thin seal things that are about?

Do i needs a new one for this manifold if i ever get it on? And for the carby hole? - yes for that.

umm that may be all?

take some pictures of what the problem is and maybe we can help you ... the reason being is you speak in double dutch and you explanation is nit the easiest to decipher ...

camel, maybe i will come up one day and have a look, but what is wrong? the 2" zorst is too big, oir there is something in the way when you try put it in? is your wreck an 1100 clubby? cos i cant see why the would be any different? although i will be the first to admit that i know sfa about minis.

come on msn some time normal and maybe i will tell you what to do...

Well
this cant happen.

The one it came off had the smaller gearbox? Remote i think ?
Mine has chunky one wont fit really?
i took it to a local Mech and he put it on hoist for me. The explained to me about heating bending pipe and there would hardly be any room at all, if any?

Anyways the flexy pipe bit is cracked so no good.

But now i had problem driving down with a bout 1 cm of accelerator due to the cable bnot grabbing the screw high enough?

so ill fix that

but gee this was a lot of fun

but i think i now learn to leave stuff alone?!!!
I did something stupid!

For some reason i decided to put the cable back in the screw hole, BUT BUT I did it up while it was right up top, you know what i mean? Spring full stretch :P
almost killed it  havent revved that much since my speedo telled me i was goind one50 :( :? ??
So i quickly turned it off , and saved it.

but then another problem,
i thought i really had killed the mini, as i reversed off the ramps, i had a piece of wood that was directly under the middle of the mini, and i didnt know at the time, but i was beached on that wood, and i was not going anywhere
gee that was a scray feeling until i found out why.

I really thought i had killed mini>?

but the end of the extractors experiment, and carby thoughts. All original still is good 8)
thanks for the info anyways.
I now understand a lot more,
due to my wrecking and your sound advice

Thats the simple illustrated version, here is a more normal 'story' like version

Okkher so for ages i try.
My original cable was so badly frayed that i couldnt poke it in the screw of the carby, so i chopped it a bit, and ended up with about 1cm of accelerator, which was no good for normal driving.

I hacked into my bike in attempts to get the brake cable off, It did come off, but in the fight, i bent it up so much that it is fair to say, it is now buggered. Anyway i couldnt get the end solid bit out of a bolt that it was attatched to, so it wouldnt have helped.

Then i found a throttle cable of the wreck of a mini, but it had the end solid lump that holds in the accelerator hole cut off it. No problem i thought, id use the holy bold and nut to hold that cable to the accelerator pedal. Great, now all ready to go.

WRONG.

The nut and holy bolt did not return with the accelerator after a press, so it sat there at full on revs, which was a bad prize again. It was part to do with the bolt i think, but also, at here
Image
When i put the cable covering on, it always popped out on top, as if it was actually attatched to the cable. So that was rubbish.

Good i thought, id bugger the cable cover,
No, not good, It doest work without the cable cover, cause the cable always gets caught, and resisted in good movement, so this couldnt work.

end result = immensely ANNOYED. so get out of my way.

i learned, i think i learned.

DONT FIDDLE, its bad for you.
I mean how hard can it be to screw up a cable of two?

Well ive spent a week, over a week, prolly 5-6 hours, JUST on poking, pulling, tieing, screwing, and cursing at a few small sharp, aggressive painful wires, WHINGE.

.`. mini = stupid, rubbish piece of machinery, luckily i've had no where that i need to go in it

Shame on you for giving the mini a bad name :x

Take it back and give your mini a big hug.
And ffs take it to a mechanic and get him to work on it; chances are, he'll know what he's doing  :)

Hey Camel, just wanted to say this is quite an entertaining story. Sounds a little like me and motorbikes when I was 15 :) and it's a steep slope sometimes. But then again, I know grown men who tow-start Holden utes behind tractors without realising there's still water in the engine (which was why it wouldn't crank over) and bent all their conrods.

I amend my earlier advice about joining a mini club. Maybe find someone who's got a bit of time to attend to one thing at a time and show you how things work and how to get some basic things sorted. Thrashing around by yourself is a little frustrating, esp. once you have skinned a couple of knuckles and gotten nowhere.

i dunno what to do :(
i already tries bike brake cable
but i dunno if that was stuffed because i coudnt get the bolt off oh
i dont caer, im just chatting to me- no one will understand what im saying

ill go to a bike shop and see what the cables look like :P

well

finally i made the mini go again
:D I

I had a cable , i think it was a bike brake, and i made it work.

it was only a real thin small floppy wirea

and when i was trying to poke it through the cable cover it kept shredding off a wire or 2 at a time so that annoyed again

but eventually i got it on and functioning fine
and the choke, it stuffs up ever since i put the air horn wire through the choke cable hole, so i just had to push and pull at it all, and its all fine now.

Good
its all working fine and i have to drive it tomorrow cause the manag is going for a service.

I took it for a drive today, I have only driven it at all probably not more than a handful of times in the last 3 months.

But i cant believe how much it slips around the place it was magnificent :?

Great, i really had forgot what it was like to give it a go, and i missed it a lot.
I suppose it always flys and slips around the road, and i had just forogtten :?
but it was magnificent
very enjoyable for a nice cruise in the bush 8)
shes all fixed for the time being

well when i had finally finished
there was so many small threads of the wire bundled off, so the total wire is now very thin, it was small enough before i stripped it.

i suppose there isnt much chance of the wire breaking, even though it is real flimsy
but i will carry spare curtain hooks in case of emergency
and now that ive got it working
ive ruined 3 good bike brake cables, a mini throttle cable, and all ive achieved is getting a half shredded cable that works fair enough

although the accelerator is a bit floppy
lots more than normal
and it has a bit of trouble returning,
but all in all its fair enough to drive

oh
but it just doesnt idle at all now
not at all

well i drove it to work yesty and had some funnies

first i put some oil in before i left in the afternnon, but when i got home i found that i didnt put the oil cap back on over the engine, so that was fun

I went into town, Autobarn, and bought a few things, walked about for 15 minutes in there. And as i was walking back, i realised i had lost my keys :? They werent in any of my 8 pockets, So without even thinking i got back in the mini parked on the street, and bugger me, there they were in the ignition in the 'on' position  that made me laugh.

and with the accelerator, i have bruk it, so that it wont go over a certain speed in the top, even though its got plenty left, its flat on the floor,
I think i can call it my new type of cruise control, dangle something on the pedal taht i can easyily kick off, cause it wont go over 120 at all

so that was fun

I changed the gearbox oil on my trailbike, did the nut up finger tight thinking I'd torque it up later. Forgot of course. Found out about it riding down a very long steep street. Weeeeeeeeeee <massive opposite lock slide about 100 metres long>. Sat at the traffic lights at the bottom thinking "that was weird" then noticed the green pool of Duckhams under the bike. Lights changed to green, let out clutch - no movement whatsoever. Rear wheel spinning madly like in a cartoon.

Still, could have died
