I've done me nut.

A standard wooden pallet helps. Tie the thing down to a pallet and then hang off the breaker bar. A young child is not enough to hold the engine enough for this exercise. But tying it down really helped.

I ended up having to resort to a rattle gun on mine, took it off in seconds. I had tried a very large breaker bar and pipe combo previously with no luck...

It's only supposed to be torqued to 70lb/ft. :) I do make them 80, and use Loctite 262...

Talk of needing breaker bars and lumps of pipe recalls the gearbox pinion nut. Which is 150lb/ft, unless a gorilla tightened it.

Thanks for the heads up. Gearbox pinion nut is coming up.

Sounds like I'll need to drop the tractor bucket on the engine to hold it down. (Note to self. Move kids out of the way first )
