Interesting start to the Mini run.
Got in, turned key to ign on and no` ticky ticky' from the Facet fuel pump. Jacked it up, crawled under, pulled wires off & put them on a new one, `ticky ticky'. Aha sez he, the 15+ year old pump is rogered.
Fitted the brand new pump. :P
Got in car, turned it to start. Rrr..rr..r. Bat flattery, d'oh!
No wonder I only had 9V at the pump. I bet the old one is still good too. :D

Note to self- drive car more often. Once a week at least.

Installed a power supply to run the tom tom. Fixed a rattly backing plate behind the right hand disk, replaced starter motor, replaced exhaust mounts and gave it a wash and polish

The Cooper S has not been out since late last year, so I fitted the new rego sticker and went for a drive to Mini King.
Image

Checked out the spares and parts at Mini King and drove home, round trip 120 miles..
On the way home found that the engine now has too much power :D and the clutch is slipping. Looks like the Primary gear oil seal is leaking..
Guess I know what I will be doing over the next few weeks.

Well not really.
I recently got a new set of Super Trax mags for the Moke, rush off to my tire guy, 185/60/13 on the front 205/60/13 rear (smaller fronts as I have the auto and diff ration is shite).
Put them on at the place (looks great, but a bit close/wider than expected...) and drive home (knowing they are too wide and probably going to hit the front flares on bumps) only 10 mins.
Well pull up the drive and theres smoke coming from the front right guard
Looks like I either loose a lot of weight, or loose the rubber flare thingies!

Looks 'ok' with no passengers.
Image

Front mag, guess I need to paint my brakes now!
Image

So off to the shed, welder and some fence rail! Don't worry some winter I will get around to de-rusting and painting the whole car!

Image That is the back done, I shortened the mudflaps as well to stop the hitting the ground when the car is loaded and in reverse. Hope to do the front tomorrow.

Should keep the Police happy once it is painted up (sorry about the angle shot!).

From the rear

I think when I do it properly, I'll remove the original extension bits, and create new wider ones, the old ones are not very straight!

So what do you think of my mags then?

Todays effort was..... getting the RWC!!
The welded patches on the doors passed muster as did the rubber that I stuck on the front flares to give them that extra 10mm of width that they needed. The rest of it was the usual stuff that cracks or falls apart. It is just going on to CH plates so there shouldn't be any further aggravation.

I got my drums machined today because the crappy chinese metal keeps getting high spots in it after every couple of thousand miles :x

Put the newly machined ones back on and did some skiddies out the front of my house to make sure the brakes still work

I'm all ready for a run tomorrow morning now (after my car has a bath of course!)

Looked at BALLISTIC and told it I am fitting hi-lo's in the front tomorrow and dropping it at least an inch all round, doing a wheel alignment, then washing and tidying a few things, then drive it down to Hobart on wednesday so I can present it to "Shannon's" for an insurance evaluation, should be fun :D
