if you had seen some of the devastation down here as a result of the fires it would make you cry. Engines where all the alloy bits just melted and dribbled down to the floor (after the generator feel off the engine for example). Plastic Fans! pffttt!. There was one case where a poor Alfa R owner lost his pride and joy, but get this, the spares tyre and mag in the boot, ended up as a small silver blob beneath the car after the alloy just melted through the drain hole in the boot!

mate the canberra fires were just huge, and i can personally empathise with people who have lost property in fires.
in november 2002 my grandfather lost 12 cars in a bush fire incluing 4 buicks, a sunbeam rapier , hillman gazelle, hx one tonner with 350 chev

and our morris minor , my mini was supposed to be out there aswell but luclily i was to lazy to put her on a trailer
I know the feeling too......while ive never lost a car to fires or anything, my family lost my grandfather's car collection to his wife when he died. She was just a gold digger and couldn't have cared less about the cars so she sold them for nix to cover her pokies addiction.

He'd built up a collection including two model T fords, a model A, an austin 7, a couple of MG's a bike or two (i tihnk) plus others that i never saw.....all in absolutely pristine original condition.
not very happy about that, especially considering my uncle (grandad's son) desperately wanted to keep the cars in the family and build on the collection.............
