she's a keeper! she's just saying she wants it to feel sporty and racy, not soft and comfy like a toyota - this kind of wifely thinking is to be encouraged!

today I won my local motorkhana, and my #1 daughter and her best buddy competed as well - but #1 daughter had an oops, and wrecked my bumper, though the star picket she hit is in much worse condition

kinda wierd how the damage is right on the overrider, but the overrider is OK - I might straighten it a bit and put the overrider back on and see what it looks like

scored a minor exhaust leak too - was very bumpy

ha! didn't notice that - it's not as bad as it looks, there's no tread hanging over the edge... for some reason I often put them too close together, even when I think "put them further apart because you always put them too close together"

Put the badges back on...

Shiney grill with stainless mesh behind it.

I had a bit of a problem with the rear. My leyland mini badge didn't cover three holes from where the badge from the donor boot went (Mini Clubman badge, or something).. Fix was to trim a piece of stainless steel to use as a backing plate, stuck to boot lid then new holes drilled and badge attached.. Also no holes for the "S" badge so a couple more holes were drilled..

I started assembling Gafmo's 1132 motor.
Cleaned the block and crank out, dropped crank in the bearings (1098 ones this time), it spins OK. Checked end float with std thrusts, .012". A wee bit too much.
I need to go get some +.003"s tomorrow.

Had the mechanic look at the brick on Thursday. Turned out the HS6 was full of crud and the points were pretty much welding themselves together. Turns out the Dizzy is also cactus so I am going to put an electronic one in.

Got it back and what a difference. Goes like a bat out of hell.

:D

Gave it a good hard fang out to Ballan, then up over the hills to Woodend and on to Mt. Macedon, then home.

Not exactly the Mini but started to organise the garage after our move before Christmas. Pulled enough stuff out so I can actually see there is a Mini in there. Spent all afternoon just working out best location for Drill Press, grinding wheel, wire wheel, what to hang on walls where and then getting frustrated looking for the bolts, bracket hooks etc I know are in these boxes somewhere. :x

^^^ That's what I've done for the last couple of weekends. Built some shelves, cleaned out a whole stack of stuff, made more room so I can work efficiently rather than spending hours looking for what I need and cleaning up etc. I can get small jobs on the Clubman Estate but the MkII project needs a pretty big working area.

Plus I got a pan brake so I can fold up repair panels as required.
