Started reassembling the engine this afternoon, I've go a touch of the flu so everything is being done at a painstakingly slow pace just in case I forget something. So far so good.

Piston rings went on easily, everything is able to be moved when it's bolted down, lots of assembly lube and oil being used to put it all back together (no lube on bores, pistons or rings). Only got the pistons, crank and cam back in this afternoon.....

The new headlining turned up too so I'll fit that at some stage this week if I feel better...

Everything is slowly coming back together.. Might even get to drive Hetty before winter. :)

Decked Gafmo's GR 202 head by .065" and assembled it.
C/R with +.040" Hypatec dished pistons is 9.5:1. More would be be better, but would need flat top pistons really. (or a 12G940 head... :P)

These old rusted smallbore heads get a bit thin in the deck if you rip too much off.

Ok Doc - you've inspired me to start a new thread under General Discussion. I'm looking for suggestions for the best pie in Australia. There will be no voting or prizes given out, only a database of the best pies around the country so that on our many mini travels we know where to stop in for a good old fashioned aussie meat pie.

Hope it hasn't been done before!!

With the 9.5 CR it still will be a good little goer and we still have plenty of room on the head to go. Also have a 940 hear for justin

Built up the rusted out lip on two Cooper S race hydro displacers. Tonite I will pressure test them to 400 psi. Watch out for one passing over the east coast at about 1000 ft, I may be just ahead of it :?

Removed the extractors from the mini deluxe due to small exhaust leak due to crack in the join between outlet 4 and centre pipe. Had this happen before so must be a weak spot for the 3 into 1 style extractors. Welded up the joint and replaced, all good now. :) Checked the mini deluxe in preparation for rego renewal and pink slip. Found top ball joints loose so replaced them both with new ones and nipped up both front wheel bearings. All nice and tight now and ready for inspection.

I can't begin to comprehend 400psi in a hydro bag, thats just nuts in my book.

But I will keep an eye out for you

I have a special cage for testing them. Normal system pressure is 300 to 350 psi. If they stand 400 or thereabouts, they are sound. Done plenty before and not had one bag or hose failure.

I put the 202 head and DrMini 1.3:1 offset bushed rockers on Gafmo's 1132 motor and timed his RE83 cam in at 106° ATDC. It needed a 2° offset cam key.
