Hey guys, new to the whole mini scene. Been reading through the forums to gain some knowledge, and as a result I've stacked up tons of questions too :p

Currently mini-less, but hoping to find a nice one at the mini expo here in melb. had a few questions about it though, how're the prices of the minis at the expos? would they be overpriced due to the exposure they get? would all the collectors grab em there before everyone else?

Eye'n up the clubmans, and looking for a good condition car as I dont have time to restore one, nor the knowledge (yet) but hopefully once I'm off my P plates ill have enough free time, and then ill also legally be allowed to chuck a supercharger or turbo in one ;)

Anyway, i will deffinately be around alot, so ill see you guys around..

Shaan

Hi Shann,

Hope you enjoy you time on ausmini. Searching the forum is always a great place to start otherwise start a thread and ask a question and usually someone will be able to answer.

Cheers, Nick

Hi Ausmini,
Im back Ive been browsing for a while but I have not
had a mini for a year or two now, so I havent been around the forum.
Realised its not the same without a mini in your life. My first two minis were a 1965
1100 deluxe than a 1963 1400 850. So Im on the look out now for a mini
again, unfortunately I have to sell my car first. Its good to be back, is there
anyone in my area on here or know of any one.

Hi Everyone!

I've recently acquired a 850 restoration project. Luckily there isn't too much rust but will definitely need some elbow grease and parts searching not to mention a new paint job to get it back to its original Nurburg White. Its currently purple

Looking forward to searching the forum and posting questions for advice.

Cheers, Ness :D

hi all,

just got my first mini about 6 weeks ago, a white 1980 1275GT and then promptly bought another one a few weeks later, a 1380 road rocket in a 1275GT body. Never even changed a spark plug before getting my mini but i'm learning, even managed to put in a new electronic dizzy (it did take a while...). I'm hoping that since you can't my accent via forum there will be great kiwi-aussie harmony

Good to see you managed to finally get your activation :P

There's nothing like dropping in the deep end when learning to swim is there? Don't worry about the accent, there's a few other kiwis knocking about the forum mispronouncing Gillard's English as well...

hey guys,

im newish on here. I joined up a few years ago, but i went off the mini scene a bit (bought an XR8 and as a young bloke, got all excited by V8's :P)

i've had my mini for 11 years, it arrived when i was 13. I havent seen it run or complete, ever. It was a nice shade of pastel green house paint previously, but has had various restoration bodywork done over the past decade. Currently sitting outside waiting for a new panel beater to check it out and cast his eye over it, hopefully there isnt too much!

We're aiming for a weekend/track car, with maybe the odd work day thrown in. There's a 1430 to go in, we've had the 7.5" brakes rebuilt, the front subframe has a few choice gussets and modifications (camber slots etc). Hopefully we can finally get it going by years end!

i have access to a few nice heads (BMW, x-flow) so would like to build a 1330 or 1380 one day with either... maybe im becoming delusional haha

i'll be joining up to the mini car club NSW again (for the 3rd time), so hopefully get to see a few of the sydney siders again soon and check some minis out!

cheers,
Brad

Hey all,

My names Marc, and I'm a uni student from Melbourne.
I was looking for a project car and an overwhelming number of people suggested a Mini. I am an absolute beginner when it comes to cars so generally looking for something that already runs that I can learn from.

I have always liked the look of mini's in particular the panel vans.
Haven't bought one yet but looking to around July when my semester finishes and I have done a bit more research on which model in particular.

Thanks for reading.

Marc (yORP)

Hi all,
I'm Bec, from Adelaide.
I was the lucky recipient of not one, but TWO, minis for Christmas! Well, one is going to be restored, the other (which some idiots chopped the roof off in an attempt to make it a convertible and the chassis collapsed) will be used for spare parts.
My mini is a 1975 Leyland and has just had a complete respray in it's original colour, Crystal White.
Now, I need to tackle the rest of it... I have engines to be rebuilt, and the interior to be reupholstered. Does anyone have any recommendations for mechanics and upholsterers in Adelaide :?: I have no idea where to start, so word-of-mouth would be really helpful, and I look forward to picking your brains throughout my project!! :)
Cheers!
Bec

Hello AusMini-ers!

I've been lurking around, login-less for the last six months or so just getting information from other people's topics for buying a mini, and now I have one, I thought I'd sign up!

I just purchased a '77 Clubman Van and I'm trying to sort out the electrics atm. I intend for it to be my daily runner if I feel it'll be reliable enough!

Thanks for having me!

Ben.

Hi all,

I'm new on here, just getting back into minis after a long break (marriage, kids, house, etc). I have a Clubman GT which has been in storage for the last 20 years and I am soon to uncover it and start a rebuild/restoration. Lots of info on here which will be useful cos the mini scene has changed alot since I last played with them. Oh and I'm in South Oz.

Thanks LS1380,

It was originally Arianca Tan with a black GT stripe...but brown wasn't cool when I was 19 so it's now dark blue with a white roof. There's a few things on it I should've left alone had I known, but nothing that can't be returned to standard,ie;adjustable suspension, roll cage, etc. all the stuff you do when you are younger.
