G'Day,
I'm Peter from Ardlethan. (Where the hell is Ardlethan??? ) Just picked up my "new" MINI (Leyland S, Devil Yellow, 41900kms, 998 motor) yesterday. Brought it from Tim at 'The Old School Garage' at Wagga Wagga. Still trying to decide on a name for my brick! Just getting back into the Mini scene after 20 odd years (marriage, kids, house, etc). New to this technology stuff as well.

Hi all, Im Robert and I'm from Canberra.
I've been playing with mini's since I could hold a spanner.
I have recently bought a 64 850 project and am looking forward to rebuilding it. I owned my last mini for 17 years and only sold it in 2005 to finalise a divorce. (ouch) It was a Red/White 69 K and halfway between a Cooper S and Clubman GT once I finished it. I'm hoping to keep this new project true to the original style and not modernise the appearance.
When I started playing with mini's it was a totally different game.
A mate with a Plum Loco Clubman and I would buy whole cars just for a few spares because there just wasn't the availability of parts there is today. Thankfully with the Internet this build will be so much easier.
I am enjoying being a part of this forum and love the helpful attitude of members.

Cheers Rob

Being computer literate, and also the fact that my time is virtually worthless means I spend a lot of time working on finding parts and ways to help my father with his Aussie GT. With prices the way they are for cars and parts, I'll probably never own one myself, so I'm just enjoying it while I can. I'm about to finish university (again) so I'll be full-time job-hunting soon, which will mean less time to spend on Minis, so the sooner we get ours up and running the better!

Hi everyone, I am Tyson and I'm from Sydney.
Wow this is sounding a bit like an AA meeting already

Sold my Deluxe years back and have well and truly realised I have the Mini bug... so bought myself a Moke recently.
I've actually owned 10 or so BMC variants over the years, but have been 'out of the loop' for more than a decade now, so I'll be relearning a lot of things!

Hope you can all help me out with the silly questions I'll be coming up with over the months ahead.

Cheers guys (and girls)
Tyson.

Welcome Tyson.

In sydney, with a moke I see.
If you're under 35, you best steer clear of mokesinc.org
They don't take too well to young moke owners from Sydney ;)

Would be good to see you at a SWOM run (Second wednesday of the Month), usually have a pie at harrys in liverpool or tempe.

Also, coming up is drags at eastern creek
Would be good to see you out there in your moke, mokes should be out in force that night!

Thanks adamstuart.
I sure am under 35, but not for too much longer
mokesinc.org - well there you go! Didn't even realise there was a Mokes only forum  may have to venture on over.

I will definitely try to get to club meetings, would be great to meet fellow Miniers/ Mokers.

Yes, there's a moke forum.

Averages about 2 posts per day though
Something to do with the management over there I think..

You'll fit in well here, make yourself at home ;)

Hi Tyson,
Welcome! My Moke is a part-time Balmain resident too!

Speaking of Balmain BMCs, there was a lovely pale green round-nose which lived on the corner of Beattie and Montague Streets. Used to see it all the time but haven't seen it there for ages.

There is a very active group of Sydney Mokers on Ausmini - lots of projects and activities in the pipeline.

How far off running/completion is your car? Got any pics?

G'day, Tyson. This can be a weird, degerate kind of place at times, but at least it's fun!

ENjoy your stay, all the best with the Moke!

Thanks Stuwey. I think I'll fit in just fine

thomas_hb, I often saw a white Matic hanging around, but haven't seen that in several months now.
The Moke was running up until a few months ago when I decided to pull the engine out for a freshen up.
I think I will be undertaking a full resto now that the engine is out - the paint is fairly tired and could do with some sprucing up!
I'll see about uploading pics during the weekend.
