Don't let them issue a new number, try to get them to use the prefix off the plate as well as the number. (YMA2S2 + 12345 if it is a Deluxe)

You were spot on Morris 1100, they used YMA2S2 as the prefix to the chassis number. Had to get new plates as it's been over 12 months. So she is now XUI500 (like that plate, easy to remember... XU1 Torana at Bathurst 500, pity my car is not a Torana).

Clocked up 200KM driving it which was good fun. :D

That is a lot better than getting a V123410P number.

So did they stamp the extra bit on the car or did they just use common sense?

You were right, but since I've spent all my money on the Mini, none left over for a prize!:P

They didn't stamp the car... would be interesting if the police were to do a roadside inspection!?

It was quite common for the prefix to be on rego papers back in the day. As long as the numbers were right nobody cares too much.

Loaded my Metro engine into the Volvo wagon and took it to the gearbox specialist for a g/box rebuild. When unloading it, we found that the oil had dumped out of the filler cap all over the load bay of the wagon. D'oh...

1412 stroker now running-
1. I binned the worn out, sticking Cooper S PCV valve and replaced it with a $27 Fuelmiser PCV-013 (suits Toyota).
No more making like JB007's smoke generator.
2. I put a bypass circuit (with a diode) on the coil's ballast resistor to eliminate my cold starting problem. All good now. :P

Put her up on stands, took the wheels off and checked and greased the ball joints and needle rollers front and back.

Might even give her a vacuum tonight..

Began to build my engine finally. got all the parts during the week so started to assemble the bottom end tonight.

had a badly manufactured bearing. had a burr on the top edge. caused some drama but i fixed it in the end.

busted one corner off the oil pump, alloy just crumbled, must be poor quality as it is only a 9ft/lb torque setting

parts list grows yet again! will try to souce some parts tomorrow.

Nah, she's up on jacks in the middle of the garage, so there's no room for the car Davo.

Put on new tyres on the front wheels. Took it to the TÜV, and passed without a problem. Except I 'have' to fit a new drivers mirror due to too many flaws on the mirror glas. Next TÜV inspection: June 2012 :)
