Hi All, just got on here (thanks Mick) been reading all your goings on for a while. I am on my 4th mini, this is a full resto job 1970 Mini K. Trying to keep it as original as possible, so nothing outrageous to be done to the motor... (yet <G>)

I am 40, married with a daughter, sheetmetal worker by trade who spent some time doing car resto work in a mates panel shop (doing mainly rust and smash repairs on old alfas.)

Hi all i'm Phil, i live in Jimboomba, brisbane i suppose. Only just finally got the account approved after a short while. Still, i'm here now and i'm good to go. I love my RC's, especially big ones. I have a 1/5 HPI Baja and a couple of other smaller RC's. I plan to get a Tamiya M05 Mk3 mini kit before the year ends. Anyway i am only 15 and will be 16 in May, of course my first car will be a mini.

I was brought up around minis. ever since i was born we've had them. we had a very custom clubman in the UK called Scrumpy when i was younger(moved to Oz in April 2006)which my dad built a 1275 for from scratch. painted him himself and everything. He was metallic Cool Green with tons of fleck and i loved him. we had another clubman called hazel which everyone in the mini club called the turd because of her colour. Then unfortunately we had to sell them on because of the move to Oz. it turns out Scrumpy actually made his way to australia on his own. Anyway my parents have had mini's ever since they can remember so much so my dad built his own from scratch a few times. he had one called Roland which again, he built from scratch. he squeezed out 108 brake from that 1275...then wrapped it round a tree on a roundabout 42 hours after it becoming road legal.

Anyway we moved here as my grandfather(Dads dad who was alive at the time)lived down in melbourne. he was a big fan of trains, even built a black five replica from scratch-you know the small ones they used to sit on? theres a railway museum near ipswich and a few other places that run them-moved up here to brisbane with some friends. unfortunately my parents divorced in 2009/10 and my mother, sister and i have been on our own since. i see him once a month or so but anyway, gloss over that. As i said i have no doubt i will have a mini for my first and i'm already hunting for it. have been saving for a few months now because i want something specific. an 1100 clubman. or 1098 anyway. already picked a name out for him and everything. i plan to call him Humpty...don't laugh. i am saving as i want to start the personalising right away. i plan to go as far as the end of either QLD and NSW to get one. dad and i will drive all the way with a trailer if we have to. i refuse to have anything other than the 1100. anyway future projects are a mid engined racer, rally mini-obviously not a works as i could never hope to afford one, turbocharged and so on.

i want to fit a twin cam to Humpty and a few other modifications. learning along the way of course. all the same. i hope this reveals a little more about me and what im into. i look forward to finally being in a mini club again.

Phil :D

Welcome to Ausmini Phill and Matt,

Phill, you've got Convertible Mini out your way, he's an autospark specialising in mini autoelectrics and lives in Jimboomba. You will see him around here from time to time.

Cheers

Mick

Do you know what sort of stuff he does? As in does he do custom electric work on them or what?

Hi All

just joined up, and am looking forward to spending some time on here.

I have been around mini's for the past 15 years and it will always be my first choose. at the moment I have a 74 mini saloon which I rebuild from scratch to a cooper replica in british racing green, previous to this one was a 73 clubman cream colour.

I am 31 years old living in South Africa

Welcome Roland...stay safe, enjoy your Mini. Cheers, Mick

Hi everyone, I'm Ricardo from Portugal. For the past 7 years I have been restoring a 64 Cooper S, finished it last month. Have been reading some of the popular threads on here and there's lots of good info! Thanks Mick for activating my account. Cheers

Hi ricardo and Mickyboy. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum here and make sure you post up some pictures of your minis.

Mickyboy, there aren't too many mini owners on Ausmini around this area. Your best bet is to come along to a MOCQ meeting and talk to them there. These usually happen on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Toowoomba Hockey Club. Good luck with the respray.
