Fully stripped engine, ripped hole in little finger when I took out the oil pressure relief valve. Mad spanner skills strike again....

Would have been nice to find a broken ring or something to point towards the problem the motor had of blowing smoke but I think it's just because the bores are glazed from me using the wrong oil to break in the motor. Could have sworn I put in normal mineral oil and not the synthetic stuff, oh well lesson learned. :?

Drilled thru the centre of the broken stud in one of my door hinges. Now need to find an extractor to fit.
Ordered a Vmax Supercharger kit. :)

Not today, but on the weekend. Put it for a lap on the Nordschleife with some 40 other Minis. Fun! :)

Did a little burn out, got both wheels smoking  and fitted 16kg of tow bar, tongue, ball and bolts.
Looks good all painted up but these pics are from earlier on.

Finally got two jobs done that have been bugging me for a long time!

1 - Installed my Lucas 700 semi-sealed headlamps and replaced the old dented chrome trim rings, old seals and fixed the wiring (main/high beam had been wired in reverse ever since the car came back from the painters in 2007).

Image

2 - Had my rear seat retrimmed in original nylex vinyl to match the front seats and the rest of the car.

Plus a fresh tank of fuel and a good long drive! Very happy with the extra shine and nice interior now! 8)

Registered it, which gave me some enthusiasm so I went uncovered and started her.
Wrote a list of things to do....that's enough for a while :?

Kicked the tyres of all the other cars in my shed and promised them a good run soon! :D

Climbed up to the top of the pallet racking in the shed to put something up there. Saw the mini shell, climbed inside and sat there wishing the 1000s of hours ahead of me were behind me. Almost pretended to drive it.

Smiled and stayed a full 5 minutes.

Came down much more enthusiastic but a little bit ashamed of being such a loser!

Here are some better pics of my towbar all painted. 16 high tensile bolts with 2mm thick washers holding it solid to the subframe.
Here you can see the stainless steel heat shield protecting my fuel pump and filter from the muffler that sits right beside them. You can also see the 40mm box pipe welded inside the the rear cross member of the subframe, very strong.
Image
Not really visible with the tongue removed unless your looking for it and the chain shackle doubles as a tow point, that's why it's red.
Image
The lowest point on the car is the muffler at 110mm which after I repositioned it to fit the towbar is higher than it use to be.

Despite (or more rather, because) it's my daily and only getting 20km a day in city traffic, decided it needed a good fang down the freeway. So took it all the way down the Geelong Fwy until it ran out (the road, not the car).. then turned around and fanged it home again. Should be a bit happier now :D
