You can't have an early mini and not have the flashing indicator arm imho...so I fixed that up on the 997 with a new bulb and lens.
Also fitted the original amber indicator lenses on the front...another favourite element of early minis...

No, somebody used a std 940 head, with a Piper 300° race cam, with 1.3 roller rockers, and LONG (1300?) single valve springs. Which all got coil bound when tested on my 282 cam, God knows how it turned em over using a 300° cam (more lift).
Valves are MG Metro, triple groove collet type.
I still can't see coilbound springs could break the valve stem at the bottom collet groove (as force is downwards), but anyway it's got C-AEA526 springs in now. All good to go.

I think it was a faulty valve- all the others were crack tested OK.

Cleaned my car inside and out. Cut, polished and waxed the front and rear of the car. will do the sides and roof next weekend.

tried a few more jet combinations in the weber. better.
filled the tank wth fuel.

fabricated some seat subframe adjusters. 8)

checked all the fluids and topped up if required.

checked for damage to the sump guard after being pulled over by the police last night and asked to drive up a gutter, causing my sump guard to scrape.

played with some wiring for the indicators, started to play up intermittently since yesterday.

said a quick hello to panthersteve, was nice to catch up with him.

looking forward to the brisbane ausmini get together at the end of the week.

Jason

Tucked up all the wireing under the Dash. Its still all long & not neat but I want to ensure its all correct first. My Honed Clutch and Brake Masters worked a treat and i have a Clutch Peddle but the brake's had a few little dramers with splits in second hand pipes.. Hocked up a dody pipe for the time being and I now have brakes. Will get a new pipes made up this week and installed. Also played with the exhaust but have found the central piece is to short so ill get a extension made up during the week also.
Was going to start her but the lawns had to be done, but I should be able to wake the street up next Sunday

minimum ride height in most states is 100mm or 4" from the lowest point of the car... which im gonna guess is the sump guard

oddly enough... very close to the same height as that of a beer/coke can

Yesterday- assembled LH & RH front disc hubs, new ball joints, new Timken tapered rollers, new S drive flanges and repacked CV joints with new boots. Pre-loads & tolerances all good.

Already replaced the boots on the UK steering rack and re-assembled the front subframe with new knuckle joints and bearings & pins in the top arms, so today, these can be put back in the car. After cleaning up the thrust faces on the top arms, had to shorten the shoulder on the pins to get proper clearance back on the thrust washers. Also, replaced the grease in the rack with 140 oil

Next is gearbox rebuild. Case was cracked thru the sump plug hole, so had that welded up and new thread cut/faced to suit. Good as new.
