I'm nic, i live in Newcastle and just bought a 71 leyland 1100 almost only original which i plan to make my regular car. really not far off in this case. I'm a big fan of original cars, with no modern comforts. ill get some pics up soon.

Hi all. Shane here. Recently finished another resto project (non-Mini), so I'm starting to look for the next bank balance depletion device to take up space in the other half of my garage.

Let the research continue...

Hi All,

My name is Craig, I currently don't own (and unfortunately never have) a mini but look to rectify that fairly soon as I have been given the go ahead from the minister of finance within our house. I have been on the forum for quite some time but have rarely posted, something I hope to rectify in the future. I am hoping to obtain a round nose that I can use as a daily for a fair amount of the time and also do runs through the Adelaide Hills as that is where I am based.

Cheers
Craig

Hi Everyone,
My wife and I have just recently purchased 1968 Mk1 Copper S (replica) but I believe it has a original cooper S engine engine # 9FSAX... I would appreciate if anyone could shed some more information on the engine.
Anyway, it has been a long time since we have owned a classic mini and after owning a few modern minis and own currently a 2013 Cooper JCW so we decided to add a classic mini to our collection.

9F/SA/X prefix engines seem to be only fitted to Cooper S 970cc models, which is one of the rarest engines they put in the mini! They only made approximately 1000 cars for homologation for racing in the under 1000cc class. Have you got any more info or photos of the engine?

You can't covert a 970 engine to 1275 without some magic. The 970 had a much shorter stroke and the blocks were 3/8" shorter than 1275 blocks so you'd need some custom pistons or rods to stroke it to 1275.

I don't think any were officially imported to Australia either, so the engine number was normally stamped on an alloy tag and not on the block itself. There is a casting number in the rear which would be definitive either way.

It's a nice looking car nonetheless :D

At the back of the block behind number 4 cylinder.

Just checked whilst on the hoist and it is a AEG312 which suggests it is a Cooper S 1275 block stamping thick deck
