Im guessing you have emailed all the major mini clubs in oz ?

I put forward that this thread get sticked, along with all other reports of mini thefts (including theft of parts)

They will have to turn up somewhere, hopefully some unsuspecting mini owner wont purchase these parts thinking they are legit.

Someone somewhere will know something, if ausmini keeps a keen eye out then im sure the culprits will b caught.

Catch the offenders and string em up by their balls.

Is there any chance of a full list of parts stolen ?

First of all I want to thank everyone on this site again for your support. FWIW my insurer (Shannons) have been absolutely fantastic throughout the whole nightmare. They have written the car off and as I have salvage rights on the vehicle I get the car back plus my payout.

I really like your idea of a "stolen mini's sticky". As for my list of parts, it's probably easier to say what wasn't taken that to list what was but I'll give it a go. Have to head off now but will post it later on today.

Thanks again to all on this site and I will take up your idea maxi, of contacting all mini clubs aus wide - the VMCI already know about it though a good friend of mine who used to be vice pres.

I'm also going to contact all the mini wreckers in Melbourne - although I'm pretty sure that everything is now sitting in/on someone elses "restored" mini clubman somewhere.

cheers guys.

Thanks for your offer and kind thoughts dude but if/when I buy an interior for my car it will be in the original trim.

Thanks again mate. Appreciate it.

Here we go:

Interior
- Seats - front and back - mint - they put a couple of shitty replacement seats in it.
- Speedo surround - near mint - left me a crap one.
-Leather bound steering wheel - mint. beautifully worn by the hands of time - put another crap steering wheel on it
-steering column shroud - mint
-Original radio - mint condition (I still have the warranty papers and instructions for it)
-Door skins - near mint
-All door seals
-Internal door handles
-window winders
-Door "Hinges" - the belt ones
-Seat belts
-carpet
-heater/wiper switch panel
-Gear knob
-accelerator, brake and cluch pedal rubbers (how tight is THAT!?!?)
-Handbrake dust cover
-choke adjuster
-dash light dimmer switch
-oil and brake warning lights
- boot mat
- original jack in its original vinyl bag
- rear venetion blind - original. needed paint
- Beauuuuutiful little polished chrome "smiths" amp guage - one of only two non-original mods on the car.
- oh yeah and two baby seats. I regularly used the car to get my kids around. My 4 year old son LOVED the little brown mini.

Exterior
- 4 original clubman wheels - 3 with very rare plastic/chrome centre wheel caps
- 1 spare mag wheel - original with original Olympic Cross ply tyre - never been on the ground. This item in particular stands out. Was almost the "showpiece" of the car as it was so new and perfect it was un-real.
- petrol cap
- both front and rear bumpers - both mint, absolutley perfectly straight with no pitting or rust at all. as you can see in the photo they put another bumper on the car - just sitting on the brackets.
- all badging
- number plate light assembly
- external drivers side mirror - mint. Just snapped it off and left the mounting bracket there. Easy enough to take the whole assembly if you know what you're doing.
- both wipers - mint - put a couple of crap wipers on for me - gee thanks guys. Your too kind.

Engine
-Air cleaner
- Dizzy and leads
- I think they took my carbie and replaced with another. Cant be sure until I get the car home
- Same with my brake master cyl. not sure about this one.
- Chopped up the panel where the vin number is
- Sweeeeeeeeetest sounding stainless exhaust. - the other only non-original bit on the car.

I think that's about it. If I remember anything else I'll edit the post.

So is there any way I can make this list a "sticky" so that people can refer back to it if necessary?? Please keep an eye out and if anyone sees anything suspicious please let me know via this site or just call Altona police on 9392 3111

Cheers.

Mate - what can I say?

Actually I'm not sure what to say...

I've spent the last 9 days trying to comprehend and understand how and why someone can do this to another person - and then you come out and show me that true random acts of kindness do actually happen. Even if nothing eventuates from your offer, I'm totally blown away by the people on this web site and now even more so after reading your kindest of offers.

Thank you macca. I'm totally blown away.

The fact they put shitty bits back on there adds to the insult dont you think? But it does pretty much confirm they are "into" Minis as well. Stupid thing to do IMO, so they are probably young-ish? And you can be sure they've had their eye on it for some time. Bastards.

The most painful part is the fact it was SO original, but on the upside it wasn't burnt out or smashed up. At least you still have an opportunity to do a rebuild.

That is a huge list, they must have been watching it for sure.

I put bets that a Mini will be appearing in trading post/local car club/paper adverts in the future with a fair few 'new' parts on it.

Hopefully they will be stupid enough to put all the parts on one single car, that way there is little chance they will get away with it.

A Mini with all those parts on it appearing on the road.....come on..its gonna b obvious.

MOD - Make this thread sticky and create a thread where people can report stolen cars and parts!! PLEASE!!!

Gee man, you wouldn't wish that on anyone - the fact that it's so obviously someone who has something to do with Minis makes you just so angry - we're supposed to be supporting each other and sharing a common interest in Minis and now another beautiful orginal car has been taken away from us - it would have been lovely to see at Mt Cooper this year.

All these comments about "they must have had their eye on it" makes me wonder a little bit too - My car is completely original and low mileage, just makes you wonder if you've ever parked it somewhere and people have been looking at it thinking "hmm id like his rubber mats" or "hmm that 3 clock speedo looks good"... I've had someone twist my lock with a screwdriver and there seems to be some vandal-type scratches in places on the paint but thankfully no one's got in... yet.

Might have to get a Mr. bean style padlock if we have these kind of f*cknuts circulating.
