OK, I respect my elders - I'm off to bed.

Have fun in South America

PS I'll double the price for those 2 kilos you're bringing in for me if they're smuggled in rectally

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm only 25 and sometimes I feel like an old fart when I see some dickhead teenagers getting around - but hey, they've been around forever haven't they - I'm only noticing them now!!

I think anyone who has a hobby like tinkering with cars will stay young!!

Minis are classless and ageless, so it doesn't really matter if you're 16 or 60 so long as you continue to enjoy them.

I got my first Mini in 1967 and I'm still passionate abouit them almost 40 years later. A lifelong interest, hobby, obsession? I have always found them fascinating, in a way that no other car can quite be . I don't think you ever quite grow out of them, and even if you do many find they inevitably return again later in life. Such is the allure of Sir Alec's finest.

Incidentially, a well-known (unnamed) Mini trader recently told me he thought everyone on this forum were 16 year old f/wits with nothing better to do than spread nonsense about something they knew nothing about !

Well I've only been on the forum for a few weeks now, but I'm finding it fun and a fabulous source of information sharing. I thought I already knew a bit about Minis, but I've gained a lot of new ideas from the forum already (not to mention added inspiration for my next project).

And I don't get the impression that it's all a kids' playground either ; on the contrary I think it's a good mixture of young and old ideas and experiences. I'm pleased that many youngsters are becoming so involved and will carry on the Mini mantle through the generations.

Which just goes to prove you're never too old to learn, or get a buzz from doing up and driving Minis.

I would also like to confess to a misspent youth at the EXPENSE of minis in the early 1970's (I'm 49 and yes, I watched the first moon landing, live on TV. Just hope I live long enough to see the next one).

Having had 2 of the little darlings (both Clubmans) when they were near new and pouring much of my 'hard-earned' into their 'character building', I can only be amazed that after all this time it's still done! Such is the charisma that these little classics posess it seems, in spite of the trouble they can cause. But that's part of their character, isn't it?

As for having a mid-life crisis over cars, I think that only applies if the car has a really long bonnet (insert that old analogy here). And as we know, minis don't!

Personally, I think I'd love to have another mini if I found something I liked for what I could afford. Something I could hopefully keep for my young son when he grows up. He already loves his cars, knows all the badges by maker and can pick a mini at 100 paces. But he's only 3 and has a long way to go yet.

Still, if there's anything an 'oldie' can say to the younger ones here it's that you'll never forget your encounters with minis and you'll be reliving them on forums just like this one, one day!
