My genuine ex police "s" when I bought it in 70 or 71 didn't have lowered seats but I have heard many stories in the years since that big people fit quite comfortably.

My mini did, however, have fully adjustable suspension, suspicous holes on the floor front and rear and full harness seat belts.

Lance Ruting, in the pits at the 72 Bathurst, came up to me and said he recognised the car and asked did i want to buy photos of the car.

I think there might have been an owner between the police and me

Mike...you may remember that the brackets to set your seats back were as common as muck in the period....so totally reasonable for Police to fit them to their builds.

Sounds like you have an ex-Police, then racer there tho....

Spending a moment in respect for Lance J Ruting...great photographer :D

Sigh !!
Yes Lance was a splendid photographer. I was a member of the Appendix J Association when he died and Max Stahl tried very hard to have the Association buy the collection of photos.
Other members voted against it and i have a feeling that many many photos are lost. Plenty of photos of heros of the days - jane, Beechy, Geoghans etc but not of the bread and butter racers and their cars.
