Standard 1275S (my mate's) did 17.8-17.9 back at Castlereagh dragway in the 70s, on Dunlop SP41 rubber.
My Fiat 124S could only manage 18.05. Bugger.....

Now there is trip down memory lane. Police stopping cars in and out of the Castlreagh lookiing at engine numbers, noisy exhausts etc. I always heard the rumour that someone had stolen a police cooper S and stripped it overnight leaving the shell to be found by police. Rumour had it that Police commissioner was so enraged he ordered the motor to be found.

The "brickies" was good also, especially after wheelie demos in and out of the hambuger place at Clyde. cant remember it name before it became a Taco Bel. Of course lets not forget Glover's Shell service station at the end of Parramatta Road - good for cokes until 4.00 am l
