I think it's a great idea, however you go about it. Raise the profile of the car, businesses and get young people into the mini.
HQ Holden racing started with virtually no one.
Why don't you young blokes, put your ability where your mouth is.

Mini 7
Engine: 1000cc
Tyres: Dunlop Racing Tyres
Brakes: Standard Cooper S System/Carbon Metallic Pads
Suspension: Single adjustable gas shock absorbers, adjustable ride height, rear anti-roll bar
0-60mph (100 km/h) between 4.5 and 5 seconds
Aprox. 95bhp at Flywheel

95 flywheel HP from a 998? Sound damned expensive to me.
And a 0-100 time of 4.5-5 seconds? I Don't think so, thats faster than a STi WRX. No way a 998 mini could do that.

I think standard motors, albeit with the same 731 cam for all, would be the best option. No extra compression, no balancing, no lightening, etc. Where do you draw the line?
Drum brakes for all, too. Then we'll see who can drive with no clear power/braking advantage

nice idea but will never happen
why not just use a 1275 initial cost is slighty more, but at least they will be able to do some resonable times. not low 2 minute times around mallala

Adelaide clubs don't really support the race scene or our cause...
Any other cams affiliated clubs want some new members?

I'm willing to give it another shot if i have the support behind me to make it work. but i need serious people.

My last car yellow/purple cost $6000 to build... including buying, painting, powdercoating, new engine, tyres and suspension. no real budget
My brothers green/checkers cost $2000 to build... crappy paint job, new pistons, new tyres, s/h race seat etc... built on a budget.
for what they were it was great fun. we didn't produce enough power to do much damage... and didn't go fast enough to have a huge brake issue.
