There wasnt many 1300's made, So i cannont see how there can be allot of parts available, the best mod is to put 1100 complete front brakes, this eliminates the CV/flage problem that they all had. I paid $400 for a very origional 60,000mile car.
After the CV's started going (knocking when braking), i called every mini/morris/leyland, place in Victoria to find the CV and flage, it was no good I ended up hearing about a 1300 in a farm 6hrs away to get the parts, had them on for 2 mths and the same problem began again, as the second hand once i found were close to shot out.

They look ace, just a small Land Crab, But they are a problem if you can get an 1100 or 1100s i would recomend it. I was given this same advice but i chose to ignore.
Oh and i had to replace the matic once aswell, $3000 was the quote to rebuild it

Oh that's right the 1300s autos got all the 1500 gear (1275 auto engine obviously) but appart from that they are basicly a 1500 (hence power bump in bonnet different gril)

Does this mean the displacers, suspension etc is different from the morris 1100s ?

I figure the displacers and suspension wouldn't have changed as the 1500s / 1300 they wanted to change as little as possible as the 1500 was a hold over model until the Marina came out.

http://www.elevenhundred.com/morris1500/index.php

^ might be a bit useful for you willy

I didn't really get what you meant when you said that parts were scarce but I can see why 1500 parts would be scarce.

If the 1100 front disks CV etc swap over these can't be too hard to find can they?
There was a guy in Vic on ebay not so long ago sold 3 x 1100s for $100 - 200 (for the 3, not each)

The 1300/1500 had those funny tilting single piston calipers. Weird setup if ever there was one.
Pads were triangle cross section, when worn to parallel they had had it.

At one point the subframe was changed so the displacers lay horizontally in the front. when and to which models did this happen?

Austin 1800.

The displacers are the same as the Morris 1100 (and also the same as the rears in the Austin 1800)
The main problem with the auto is the foward clutch. But it is very, very easy to fix.

Yep, you don't even need to take the motor off the gearbox. I did my MiniMatic (same box)- when I got it, it had no forward gears, only `Retreat'..

And you can change (not just adjust) the brake bands without removing the engine or box. So I have been told anyway. :)

Nah, You would have to lift the motor to change the bands. The whole gear set has to come out so that you can get the bands out. Still, they are not hard to work on.
With some boxes you have to lift the motor to adjust the bands but other boxes you can adjust them in the car.

Maybe it's only A+ boxes? Or not all the bands?

A mate claims to have done it before. He's an ex-BMC mechanic who has built gearboxes etc for me before so I have no reason to doubt his claims. He has my Moke's engine and auto box right now.

Still, I may have it all wrong. :?

The MG1300 (and MG1100) were available as two and four doors. They are not the same car as the Australian Morris 1300/Morris1500.

The (Australian) Morris 1300/Morris1500 was a redesign of the Morris 1100 but it is all new in front of the firewall so that it could take the much larger 1500 motor.

aka the boat anchor...
BTW the tail lamps were different too.
We had a Morris 1100S auto then a Morris 1300 auto. Both good cars. Pity they've just about all gone to the scrapper, I didn't think they rusted that fast... rotodipped and all.

Useless Info: the 1500's (OHC) had a 5 speed option - My dad's got one as a bush basher.

And I knew of one person who had remachined a few things and used different bearings and got the internals to fit into a rod change mini box . not sure how well it went but it seemed relaible and was a lot cheaper than the other mini 5spd gearboxes at the time .
