Oh Dear
Well i have an engine hoist, local knowledge and tools.
I could help source another motor and other needed ancillaries. Its pretty lonely trying to do all this while you are 1200 kms from home

Apparently they are organising a hire truck and plant to continue to Brisbane. Sounds like one of those epic trips. I'm sure the story will get better with time and beer.

Not just a simple fix this one... They found a piston in the radiator of the truck.

So it threw a piston out the front of the block :?: I though they normally got thrown out the side. :? or did it bounce around and stop in the radiator ? fortunately none of my engines have died this spectacularly.... touch wood

just to let you all know that they're safe and well and have discovered the joys of "Pocket Billiards"

and for those that are interested, the two boys will be in brisbane tonight..

..where they will meet up with a film producer to discuss the idea of developing a film based around the events of their trip. They're thinking of calling it....

Broketruck Mountain..

So what actually happened , and who was driving at the time ? I'm sure this will be changed quite a bit by the time they get back so you'd best give us some details now ....

That's funny, Steve told me the movie was going to be called "willy, Queen of the Desert". :D

Let me be the first to confirm that willy was NOT driving at the time. According to Steve, there are bits of the piston in the radiator, not the whole thing. 8)

Now there's a name for a low grade porno ......

The truck sounds like it's an expensive failure , I hope we get some photo's some time in the future of the damage if they strip it down , probably just get pulled out and dumped though with that sort of failure .....

They made it to Brisbane and today are collecting a hire truck to go back to Coonabarabran to get the load & bring it to Brisbane. What an epic! Still, I can't wait until Steve & Will return to collect my surplus stuff. Garange space at last, and enough cash to start the Suzi project. Woo Hoo!!!

Steve and willy just left with my surplus Rover stuff. Anyone who wants a body shell, grey velour interior or green vinyl interior from a 99 Cooper or a 1275 EFI auto or a 1275 Manual with 26k on the clock or a wood dash etc blah blah. Call Steve.
