Thanks for the thoughts everyone...the problem is finding a panel shop who actually know Minis....plenty of "bolt on another plastic bit" ones around

Ken....the rear of the front subframe narrows and looks flimsy.....but the whole frame is well located through the towers.....

as you have pointed out, strong enough to pull against the body if you levered off the right point....I will stop thinking about about tearing the floor from the rear mounting bolts :!: :D

Okay - then have a talk with Rocky Canto at Canto Smash Repairs in Smithfield. Rocky is a five star samsh repairer and a consumate mini man.

For the right reasons, he may be a very generous discounter.

Just try him

Barrie has known Rocky for Donkey Years....I will remind him....but he is looking for a local repair (I have already suggested he may have to whack it on the trailer and go to Sydney).

But naaaahhhhh.....its only a box on wheels (oopps  ).

Actually I remember when Barrie had a somewhat similar dent in the back. But you'd never know after he finished with the homemade pads and hydraulic ram. Don't tell me he's feeling shy this time :)

Cheers, Ian

I talked to Barry and offered him a couple of spares(clutch cover and the gear housing thingy). I was throwing them out so though they should go to someone who needed them rather than land fill.

Hooroo

As far as local smash shops who know minis go Terry Pulford would have to be up there. I was very happy with the work they did to "GARRY".

(first thime on the net for a week) Mick please pass my comisserations on to Barry when you see him!

By for now,
Paul.

Mick, I seem to have missd this thread somehow, pass on my encouragement to Barry to get that shell back straight! :D

I recall talking to him 4 or so years ago at Oran Park, I'm pretty sure it's a cooper 997 shell!? 8)

Great to hear it's being repaired! :P

Graham....thanks...you can tell him yourself on Sunday....fairly sure he is going along to support others etc...the body is all repaired, just needs some paint (too cold for painting here atm....BB needs to find a warm unused spray booth) and then the reassemble process can complete.

I don't want to comment on what it is or is not here....though as you can see it definately has the 850/Cooper front valance, sliding windows and the long UK number plate on ther boot.

The expected return to track date is September.

Barrie will be hanging the doors this weekend....amongst a thousand other things to do. Body is back together now with a flash new lick of paint. I think it is a crying shame you can't buy 850 valances....she now has one of those new fangled cut-away jobbies
