My 1275 came in many bits - the block from Sydney, the crank from Newcastle, the pistons and rods from England etc etc. All ebay stuff. I did make a mistake with the pistons and have to go the overbore and NEW pistons route but... I got there.

You can too but i spent 12 months searching ebay for an hour or more each day. The bits do pop up. !!!!!!

Hi Greig, glad to see you on here :D

For sure I agree, that's why I went 1275 route. I can't see much difference in cost from small block to big block build other than upfront costs (block, crank, head and of course disc brakes  )

I think it's all a follow on from several years ago , if you asked for any part for a mini it was half the price if you asked for an identicle part but said it was for a cooper s .....

you dopes...the question was cost of rebuilding between a 1100 and a 1275..not the Hp for $

The price of a rebuild of a 1100 or a 1275 should only differ by 10 to 20% with the 1275 be the higher, considering they are exactly the same warn and parts need replacing (As if).
Its the Purchase price of the parts you do not have/Want that determins the higher expence you will outlay when it comes to a 1275

Yep I have a hot 1100 that has beaten 1275 on the Dyno but could not beat a 1275 for HP with a bit of cash

I'd hate to think of the $$$ that would add up to if it was billable hours. How much is your time worth?

I guess I don't really like trolling fleabay, but more power to you if you can do it. I'd rather plonk down a few extra dollars and think of the time saved. Time better spent in the garage.

As Mike says just keep your eyes open... there are 1275 bits out there.
You do not need a complete and running one for rebuild.
You can build up a very good motor from gathered bits and pieces.
Apart from eBay, check out www.trademe.co.nz for bargains.

Hi - 1275 are the ultimate prospect :P

nothing has changed - money spent for performance gained is far better and will give you at the end more satisfaction.

Don't get me wrong - small bore motors can achieve great results however compared to a 1275 it is really academic as the 1275 output is easily tapped into

Greig...

Welcome Greig....good to see you here and hope you are fully recovered from when PI bit you :D Cheers, Mick
