I've a mini K with a 1275 engine in it, installed by the previous owner. He has reregistered the car with the new engine number after the rebuild. The registration says "Mini 1100" as the model name and no engine size but the correct engine num. No eng. certificate was needed to re-register it.

In the last few years due to equal measures of stupidity and bad luck I've rebuilt the engine twice (or really 3 times) the last time it grew to 1430 (?) but its the same engine so no registration changes. No problems passing pink slip every year (despite being in the e.suburbs where they rarely see any classic cars at all) as the car is tidy and safe (I really can't see where all the horror stories about passing the test come from unless people drive up in rusty death traps). And for the green slip all the info required is age, and suburb, nothing about your car.

For insurance (with Shannons for a couple of years and with Vigyl now) under classic policies I let them know about the engine, sidedraught carb, disk brakes, extractors etc and no problems insuring it. I had an accident claim with Shannons awhile back and they paid up with no issues.
