Sounds like a step in the right direction. It just becomes pretty hard at times when you have to travel a fair way to get to anything decent. Especially when you have four other people in the family that have their own needs and wants. It would be great to see a few more Mini events around these parts. I suppose it's all clubs in general but people seem to be more busy these days and unfortunately all the effort seems to come from a select few.

I've seen it time and time again at work and social clubs that I have been involved with. Those few that put the effort in all the time end up falling by the way side as they never get the thanks they deserve and the rest take it all for granted. Then when things don't keep happening the others ask why not. Go figure. I wish I had more time for Mini stuff.

Bleat, bleat, I've had a gut full of work at the moment. I think it's time for a transfer. Where's that bottle of Bundy :D :D

Put in for a posting to Fort Fumble Ziff....the ACTMCC would welcome you with open arms

You are dead right about clubs...but guess what....the people on the committees usually understand that if they don't do what they do there is no club....I think there is a certain satisfaction working for the benefit of others anyway...some won't ever offer thanks, lots grumble, but, the ones that thank you or help out without being asked do make it worthwhile.

For Minis, three clubs. Two with constitutions, and one for the REAL fun. 8)

Was in MCC NSW and ACT Mini for many years then dropped out of minis .. and thus clubs... never meant too - just happened... mortgage, world travel, work - all the usual things.

Am back now...
NSW MCC
ACT Mini
Historic Sports and Racing Association...
... and when the pay packet allows will join the Classic Rally Club...

In the past clubs filled many roles.... and still do. Before Ausmini where did you get all those tips and tricks and arcane knowledge ? Club members that's who !

I remember many an ACT Mini meeting where more time was spent in the parking lot after the formal meeting looking, showing and discussing various aspects of Minis and in winter too ! Ausmini is much warmer

Whether you see Ausmini as a club or not - is personal viewpoint I believe.... and a wonderful use of modern technology.... but I still see a strong need for the "traditional" style club....

My 2c

Ken.

to become a registered/recognised club do you have to register somewhere? does it cost money?

The main thing is you need to be incorporated and have insurance so if anything happens you are covered and don't lose everything if someone is injured or killed on a run . That's what killed the Lismore etc mini group , half the people didn't want to join an organised club and be covered because it would cost money , the rest didn't want to run the risk of something happening and the organiser of the run being sued . Best option would be to become a sub branch of the MCCNSW , CHris could give more details on what's involved there , there's someone in Coff's looking at doing that but is running short of time (like everyone is ....) .

I am a member of the Geelong Motor Sport Club. I am usually a member of the VMCI, however I forgot to renew my membership last year. I will be a member this year again, so I can run at Hay and can organize some runs in and around the Geelong area through the club.

I hate the politics in clubs and disagree with how a lot of things are done, but it's the foundation stone for our hobby.

Edit/ I do my thing to help the Mini scene. czerial, 9Y and the like do their thing to help their hobby, each in a different way. I urge everyone to contribute to the greater good of their hobby, whether it be simply be helping someone organize a small run/get together that would normally not happen.

Realistically all mini clubs within Australia should grant you honoury membership for your undeniable contribution to linking mini people in all states accross many clubs breaking down many misconceptions.

I will certainly look into honoury membership of the AMVC NSW considering Minis all share and Austin designed motor and an Austin design code.

Thank you very much for all you have done for people who love this great little car.

Scott

I have put honary membership for you on the agenda of the next AMVC committee meeting.

Keep you posted.

I don't know why mini clubs haven't gotten there first, maybe they don't think ausmini is as important for the mini community as a whole as we all do.

I honestly think you should be knighted or get a special mention on the honours list.

Keep it up boyo

Steve
