At least there's no dispute as to who's to blame, but a bugger of a present on your birthday. I turned 40 on Friday, and celebrated by giving myself the day off work and going for a big mountain bike ride.

I have a Telwin (Italian) 156A gas & gasless MIG. It works well (4 heat settings, and enough penetration for anything you're likely to do at home except for possibly welding stub axles onto a trailer). I took it to my welding class one night when I was learning, and the tutor showed me how to get the best from it. He also said they evaluated the Telwin MIGs and thought them to be quite good machines although they had the budget to buy Lincoln MIGs of the same power. Gasless MIGs are less versatile as you're restricted to flux-cored wire which doesn't quite weld as cleanly as gas wire. On the plus side, you don't need to hire gas bottles although I find them quite economic.

nice bike you have there.

I am thinking about postponing the welder purchase until later. I would have had to fork out the extra for it and that was ok when i thought it was 1 or 2 hundred but now it looks like 500+. It is going to be a bit useless as I dont even own a house with a driveway at the moment and cant really see the neighbours being all that cheery of me welding on the footpath. I really am disappointed at my self for using logic in the case. Damn you logic.....DAMN YOUUUU!

SMOKIE.... Being slammed in the arse was definately not on my birthday wish list in any sense of the statement. Thought I would get that out there before any of you young or old twerps could : )
