I remember a Bathurst Grp Nb race at the October weekend a decade or more ago on when we Mini drivers were asked by a group of the Mustang/Sprint drivers at the Drivers' Briefing if we would mind sticking to the left down Conrod Straight. We were doing perhaps 120mph (tacho bouncing off the stop at 8000rpm) and being overtaken by Mustangs and such like doing about 150. The buffeting we received as they flew past seemed to push the Minis about 6" sideways.
We considered their request briefly, whereupon one bright spark in the Mini ranks replied that if they moved over for us in the braking areas and around the corners, we'd give them room down the straight. Much laughter resulted but the end result was pure racing.

I think it is, Mike.
Those Falcon Sprints were a handfull too. They had awsome power and handled pretty good for a big car. But their drum brakes were only good for 3 or 4 laps :P

If my maths is correct. With 13" wheels and a 2.95 ratio the speed at 7000rpm would be 230kph, or 143mph. Assuming no wind resistance and you have a torquey enough engine to push a brick that fast. That said a roll cage and helmet would be smart too.

My understanding is that the fastest any A=series powered car has gone is 146mph in a Copper F2 A-series engine open wheeler producing approx 80hatw. The fastest A-series car with a body was a UK Thundersports Mini Marcos with a 1430 and it topped out at 135mph.

Which is amazing for its capacity - it aint that fast.

So with its aerodynamic properties I doubt a mini would get anywhere near those.
