just to addd to this thread.

I have got my 998 back from Graham Russell. It goes really really well, it just wants to be revved and is much better on fuel than my 1293 (so far)

Id reccomend going down that route.

As Josh and Chris say, go the small bore.
Josh, Chris and me all have very hot small bores (Chris has a 998 and we have 1100s)

Mine and Josh's have more torque and HP than many big bores... but its a completely different drive. Completely different.

I just filled up... BP Ultimate fuel was $1.53/l ... the 1360, 1380 1400+ big bores guzzle fuel... I am more than happy with mine...

Yes you wont see Over 100+hp unless you super/turbo charge but 70, 80 or 90hp is heaps for a mini...

Chris, Josh!! When we going for a hot smallbore cruise :D

Peter

sometimes you hear the comment "it's not the size that counts, it's how you use it"... but if you ask a girl if that's really true, not a chance

these clowns who are saying their 998's and 1100's are the ducks nuts, give them a 1275 and they're gonna change their tune pretty darn quick -

what if it's big AND you know how to use it... ??

Now, wheres my 1275 parts dude!!!

Cheers,
Pete.

hey look.... a little motor with a turbo is just like using a cockring, impressive, but what if I use one with my big motor...??

I wasn't going to mention that you're searching for a 1275 - like I said, the clowns who like their little motors are either in denial, or or are looking for a big one like you

Haha, im only looking for a 1275 so I can play and break it... I wouldnt want to ruin a smallbore for that

Its all good... small or big they are both fun but different ways... and you have to admit, we get bragging rights with smallbores when we blow away 1275s at dyno days :D

power aside, smallblocks are smoother, quieter and overall much more pleasant to drive.

bragging rights don't mean much when compared to the smile on her face when that big bore power has done it's job

Forget about the fuel economy, I can't believe Simon is still getting mileage out of the sexual metaphor. :D

tell you what - you drive, I'll get on an aeroplane, fly to your house.

When you get there, your wife won't want to know about your small bore anymore, no matter how smooth it runs - or rough - which ever way she likes it

so you admit that when you started out with your motor, you realised that it was inferior to begin with, and chose accordingly - it's not my fault that big bores are just part of my make-up - if you don't want to race, it's OK... just step aside and let me unleash the powaaaah

i HAD a 1293 and i chose to build a small bore.

My small bore is quicker than my 1293.

so put that in yer pipe and smoke it Mr Kerr.

Id also choose to drive my small bore if given a choice too.

NOTE: both motors were built by Graham Russell and both are vvery good performers.
