so how do i know what colour to paint the motor? How do i find out what the original colour would have been?

No, it's not original... motor is a 1293A+ from an `81 Moke, with a few period enhancements. 8)

my mechanic used to drive an old ford coupe, nice engine bay, he said that everytime he changed the oil, he degreased the engine and just gave it a good wipe,

he was the sort of bloke that had a tv from the 70's as well because he knew it would last,
