Having trouble finding Ethanol info on the BP - seems to be playing the scarlet pimpernel. :?

Is it true that BP Ultimate is E5?

BP Ultimate 98 was all I used in the Mini.

Its all I plan to use when I get the new one.

ULP is ULP anywhere you go....although you take your chances buying from an un-branded or independant servo.....can anyone say solvents ?

Let me clarify, when I say ULP, I mean ulp as in stock bog standard ULP fuel. NOT the custom fuels that are unique to each servo chain.

There is a shell product with Ethanol in it....STAY AWAY FROM ETHANOL FUELS...

I work for a Distributor of Caltex products, but I happily fill up with BP fuel :) Although I do use the Techron 5000 additive...very cool stuff!!!

i bet the major oil companies started that rumour, i've never had any problems with independents.

Like I said, you take your chances.

Most independents are supplied by either Shell, Mobile or Caltex.

Its the odd few that are supplied by Liberty or United.

I have had two fuel samples sitting side by side on my desk at work, one from a big branded site, one from a local independent supplied by United.
I can assure you that one of the fuels was so dodgy it wasn't funny, and it wasn't the one from the big brand site.

After knowing what I know now, I will never go to an independent site, as I am not prepared to take that risk. Yeah, you might pick a site that is supplied with good fuel, but getting fuel into your car that was anything like I had in a jar at work, you would be asking "How the f*** do they get away with that ?"

Neither of you answered the question: Is BP Ultimate E5?

This is the only piece I could find on ultimate and its ethanol content..

If it was E5 I wouldn't worry about it as IMHO the content would be too low to cause your mini any damage. 8) Anyway, doesn't your Mini run on strawberries and cream?

Ultimate does not contain Ethanol.

Maybe a South Australian amongst us can confirm whether the following is true, and if so, does Ultimate contain ethanol?

Quote:
It is the law in South Australia that any petrol station that supplies a fuel with an Ethanol content must display a message on the petrol bowser advising you of the fact that Ethanol is mixed into the fuel you are buying.

I use SAFF (South Australian Farmer's Fuel) as there's a servo on the way home from school and it's never busy. No they don't accept discount cards, but their lowest grade petrol is 95 and it cost what average 92 costs, althought most companies have started phasing out 92. SAFF were the first fuel station that I've seen that went to 95 or 98 only.

All of their petrols contain's 10% Ethanol, and I've never had an issue with any of my family's cars.

The Golden Grove station is the only station on the direct route home from school and guess what, they serve you! I just open my twin tanks and stand back, ahh yes it's nice.

Found that one too, thanx, Ben. :)

But hey, if you've already got the best, why not make it a bit better? :P

PM bnicho, he works at BP. 8)
I don't believe it is, but it does have lots of solvents.

hey,
just going to chuck my bit in here,
i have worked in and around a major fuel plant (where it is stored B4 it is trucked out to servo's)

here is a fact, the fuel comes from oversea's on a boat, and all they get off the ship is JET A-1, ULP, pulp, and diesel, all these fancy fuels and just a syrip type of stuff that in injected while the fuel is pushed into the loading arm and it is getting loaded into the truck, these mixtures chop and change a fair amount, and the mix itself is changed all the time...we did a major job there once, and 2 of the fuels that people were saying they liked/dislikes were the same fuel, just sold under to diffrent brand names for over 3 months....

and BOY some people DONT wanna see the RUST AND CRAP that comes out of the tanks...
