^^ I agree.
I've had a number of accidents when i was younger, and they all taught me different things each time. It's a hard way to learn, but as long as you learn it's never a bad thing. If only cars and poles/gutters were harmed then no biggie! Each one there were different environmental/social elements involved but i was still behind the wheel, so have to take some/all responsibility for what happened.

I haven't been involved in a bingle for years now (**knocks wood**) and am glad to have got them out the way early :P The road is a dangerous place no matter what anyone may think!
Look what led to the accident and adjust your driving/attitude to suit...

Good luck with the repairs on tiny.

^^^ I agree with this.

What you did was learn something. Passing the blame on means you learnt nothing.

i was actually thinking of doing a defencive driving course how much are they and where can i do one?

what is is with everyone thinking that it is always the drivers fault?.. there are times where the driver can do nothing but juz sit there and hope nothing bad happens, when theres an oil sleak in the road what are u gonna do? its easy to say that to drive slowly and dont be an idiot behind the wheel. but what if the driver wasnt an idiot and could do nothing to avoid the situation.

i was halfway in a turn with the car next to me sliding towards me, i slowly pulled away but hit the sleak and slide towards the gutter, how do u stop a situation like that?

Anticipation.

It is always the drivers fault, there is always something that you could have done differently.

Why were you the one person that hit the gutter?

Oh, btw it is slick not sleak.

Ultimately it all comes down to the driver. I too have done my fair share of "something/somebody" elses accidents.

The fact is the only way you going to avoid accidents like that is experience. How could you have avoided it? Every accident is avoidable - assuming you have developed the skills to avoid it.

But sorry to sound direct - but extra skills will enable you to avoid accidents like that.

but I am sorry it happened but I glad that you are OK.

so why is the fact that the car that you were driving had an accident is not your responsibility?

- Did you brake as this car slid towards you around the corner- or did you try to move left to avoid the car or both?

I have lost touch with defensive driving course costs - I think about $300 - $400 - thats not a bit cost for what you learn - they are in the yellow pages and so, let your fingers do the walking.

back onto the accident - we have all been there at some time. The incident where nothing you did worked and the bang happened. Looking back over the years, that nots happening now so we learnt something.

Dont argue about responsibility because everyone else knows it just went wrong and perhaps different experiences may have made thiings different BUT...

To answer your question regarding a defensive driving course, AAMI offer one for FREE if you have comprehensive insurance policy with them, or for a measly $165 if you don't.

Here's the link;
