Whenever I hit the highway (rarely), I just put the earplugs in and turn the CD up... 8)

I agree with Mike though- if it's primarily a highway car, stick with SUs.. for less noise and better economy.

I am trying to make my engine as loud as I can...
Straight cut gears.
Limited filtration on carburettors.
Large ported manifolds.

I think the age of the owner/driver comes into the equation a lot.
As does the frequency it will be driven, and for what period of time.

I don't find the Weber noisy al all. The difference might be the extra sound insulation that GT's had above and beyone a standard Mini.

They aren't any noisy than an SU, i find.

I cannot stand the 'whistle' of an SU.

The purr/pulse of a Weber is delectable 8)

I'm that old I can't hear the thing anyway (well sometimes I feel it!)

But what about performance?

I have a clubbie 1340, with twin SU's and a Wade Cam, plus a Cooper S gear box.

Is a Weber going to make a LOT of difference??

A1 :D

p.s. Mind you, sound is good !!

I know exactly what you mean now, and agree 100%

It's like a constant drum beat. Music to my ears.

Haha, if it's not bloody noisy the engine needs more head and manifold work and a bigger cam...
