I have a stroked 351 cleveland in my work horse, tripple cut stainless valves, with stellite (spelling?) seats and the heads have done 478,000... running mostly on LPG, still runs like a dream. I use ATF (Auto Trans Fluid) thru a flashlube dripper system, its cheap, and works the same!

use ATF, or flashlube... sit down and work out the extra costs... works out to be bugger all per tank, so if it works (or not in ur situation), you can afford to err on the safe side IMO.

thats my 2 cents

I use to run my old 351 F100 on regular unleaded without any valvemaster/flashlube or oil and never had any problems (kind of like my 1100.) It use to tow the HQ race car up and down the Hume without any valve seat problems.

If I pull the head off my car and it has recessed the valves I will fix it properly with hardened seats. The money I save in not using flashlube will go towards the job.

There is another advantage to Flashlube, it also acts as an upper cylinder lubricant.
My car runs S/S race valves and bronze guides (can't run plain S/S in cast iron ones), with valve stem seals that work (non-Mini ones)- these guides need some lubrication, and the Flashlube provides that.
Unlike leaded fuels, unleaded has NO lubricating properties, it's more like a solvent than a fuel... understandable considering what's in it.
