9YE/U/H was fitted to the morris panel vans, mine anyways. Can't recall but I think it's 1968 or 69.

40 thou oversize would give you capacity of 1030cc (1029.64 to be precise).

That is the size of the motor in my LS and with a 282 cam, extractors, 1.75 SU and motor balanced it goes extremely well. Soon to be getting a better worked over head..

Also getting it dyno'd on Wednesday and it will be interesting to see what sort of figures it gets.. Once the new head is fitted, I will be getting it dyno'd again to see what sort of difference that makes...

Yep well Dad picked up the motor and it's all good apparently. Yes, it's a 998 with an 1100 crank. Got the receipt for all the stuff he had done to it including new oil pump, water pump, 25/65 grind cam, b/e and main bearings, pistons, the 1100 crank etc, so it looks like it's had a fair go over. Was all done in Dec 2003... What dramas do you think I will have with it all sitting for so long (if any??)

Smokie, be sure to let us know how it goes on Wednesday!

And yes, it is a 9YU/E/H (not I or L)

Ok , sounds good , it's a short motor isn't it (block, crank , pistons and rods , no head or gearbox basically) ? If so check that there's no rust in the bores , spray a bit of wd40 or put a bit of light oil in the bores and turn it over rather than turning it dry . Might pay to replace the timing cover seal too if it's sat for that long without oil as it might be partially perished and fail when you use the motor , it's easier to replace on the garage floor than it is in the mini . Others will have some more ideas on what to look for as well .
