They improve braking on the slippery shearing shed floors. Also helps with chasing runaway ewes.

the biggest purchase that I tried to get away with and wifee finding out later was the actual Mini itself.
Dont know why I tried really. Quite futile. I suppose I was going to deny all knowledge of its origins and just keep it.
Nahhh, she wouldn't have bought that. So I had to come cleen when she saw it in the garage. Oops.
Got get points for bravery though !

Yeah we did - about 40 mm on top of 20 mm we got a fortnight earlier. It means we have soil moisture to enter winter with. Good stuff really.

Provided we dont have extended dry times with clear sunny days and cold frosty nights we might get through to spring with grass and then have a spring instead of Just sliding into summer.

At least we can now lick the stamps on the envelopes of the mail we post instead of stapling them on. The downside is that the ecologist ones amongst us have to start teaching three year old frogs how to swim.

Your lucky it's only shoes - my wife 'needs' to see our grandchildren on a regular basis - like 6 to 8 weeks - 2 in Melbourne and one in Rockhampton. Plus every now and then she throws a wobberly about the progress of the renovations to the house so we have a spurt there. Hence the Mini gets worked on in fits and starts. -Can't help but think though when paying for an air ticket to Melbourne or what ever -"that's a new clutch or pistons or whatever - sigh

Wombat, what you need is a batch of webcams... We've got one and we gave one to each of our mothers this mothers day so that they didn't feel left out as our 2 year old grows. We gave them webcams so they can be seen, so our son knows which is which - there was a great fuss kicked up earlier this year when he regularly used the wrong name for one of them during a visit here earlier this year. :? They didn't like my explanation that the term was a generic term for an older female family member... They both live under 150km away, which is good for me. They don't drive, we have to pick them up, either from home or at least the bus stop. I'm just glad it's not air tickets yet, because we'll be the ones who have to pay for them, just like you... We still hear about how we moved away... Hopefully the webcams will save trips/visits. 8) Well, one can hope...

Location: Sydney - strangely, I am glad of the sight of hills!!
by the time i am back from the shop, Jen has already put the purchase into my "mini budget" spreadsheet, so there is no hiding it. if i use cash, i always get the "what did you get cash out for?" question.

Now that the Forester is off the lease (yep we own it outright!), my budget has increased substantially, but then again so has hers :P

cheers
michael
