Got a couple more hours in today. Was supposed to fir the head but had the wrong head gasket so instead we by passed the brake booster (anyone want to buy a shiny chrome one?) Fitted the oil cooler (need to do the hoses) and fixed up a few other little nik nax. Looking forward to Saturday getting the engine in and seeing a how the head work changed it and b) how the diff feels

Oz, you need to go back to skool... the ruler measurement is 2-9/16", ie 2.56250" and originally it was about 2.750" thick.
So in truth it's only had 3/16" off it. That's 4.75mm in the new money. :P

It's gettin' thin, man.. don't grind too much more..

<edit> make sure there's no burrs left on the edge of the chambers, after that grinding..

Yes I still have the Pertronix Ignitor and 45D dizzy. Or we can put it in your dizzy. 8)

68, the diffirence in the colour is partly becasue it has newer exhaust valves.

Kev, I'll talk with you on the phone re the Dizzy / petronix option. What would you do?

Duc,
The exhaust valves get hot and burn the carbon off, but inlets don't.
Oz,
Put it in whichever dizzy feels to be `least worn'. I have a choice collection of 45Ds.... 8)

Probably easier if I do it there's a few things to watch.
Lemme know when it's running and I'll come for a drive to the `gong..

$100, fitted and running? I've got an almost new GT40 coil too if you need it.

i see copper lines in the brake system, what is the difference with steel and cooper lines, i know there not legal in NSW but is there a benifit to them. I have them on one of my cars and am going to swap them for steel lines, but i am curious why so many minis have them, being that they weren't used on the production line. I'm so confused???

Cheers

Aaron

Eventually I will be changing all brake lines to Stainless steel.

I dont think the run to the Gong will be before Christmas but I think one soon after may be a good idea. May be on one of the public hollidays with a real early start before the crowds get on the roads.

Meet Loftus Oval Car park for a run through the WHOLE National Park to Bald Hills (Nice early run). Then along the old highway (Coast road closed) down bulli pass to Austy beach the nicest beach in the world, for breakfast and a swim. The car park is right on the edge of the sand so you can keep your ey on the cars, Cafe, takeway accross the road, large grass area, and kids swings if you are that sort.

No need to go all the way into Wollongong to go to Falggstaff hill always crawling with people anyway. Best if we go to Austinmere that way we can cruise up the coast Road to the road block there are some excellent photo ops there looking over the wate, we can get all minis together.
