I have no idea what the top speed is of my current mini, however I did have the good ole LS (1360) about around the 135-140 mark. 12" rim 3.44 diff can't remember the revs at the time. Maybe someone can work that out know the diff, rim size and approx speed at the time. Anyways my days of high speed are over unless I'm on the highway doing my 100km/h :D

my tired 1275...........hhhmmmmmm i never took it faster then 80mph, around that speed it wasnt sounding to good.
the 850 im driving around now feels better at the top end (smoother), but there just isnt anywhere to test out topspeeds safely, so cant be arsed.
well see how the mpi auto van and the 16v 850 go when they are finished

The car started wobbling and shaking at 60mph.

I can do 110kph in my mini K and it will go quicker but it is loud and I don't really know what revs I am doing as my tacho isn't working properly.

But it will basically do that up any hill or wall that it might come across with very little effort.

The speedo in my van was optimistic. I have a photo somewhere taken on the phillip island main straight showing 115mph at 5000rpm. More like 80-85mph really.

man i could imagine being in a charger and not knowing what to think about a mini overtaking you on the straight..... priceless.
nice to know they had smiles on their faces, you cant be angry at a mini, its the underdog.
henry draper (mini racer) told a mate of mine once (who has a e49 r/t charger) "the only car other then a mini that overtook me on a corner was a r/t charger.....and it had p plates too"

It wasn't one of those zooom past overtake either, it was one of those slowly inching past and you could see both of us rocking forwards in our seats for exrta horsepower

146 kms/hr as per police radar 2 years ago on the way backl from Hay in my 998. He let me off with a caution. I wasn't game to ask if I could take a photo of the readout.

I know this does not count as it is a race car.
But in 1974 this Mini we raced was the Fastest ever,
Being clocked on Conrods flying 1/8 mile at 132mph.
Here is a copy of the add when it went up for sale in 1974.
Older members may actually remember this car. It was near unbeatable even allowing for the fact it only ran a cast iron head while many others had the 8 port crossflows. Much of the success is directly attibuted to it's
driver Lynn Brown.
