Yeah, that's like the one I saw in Auckland. Van pressed grille, sides and roof vent with traveller rear seat and floor pan. Maybe they were an NZ only thing!

That is very close to mine - only thing is mine has one piece fixed glass rear windows and I am pretty sure the seat is narrower than that. I will double check and then I will try to get pics on weekend - can anyone post em if I get them emailed?

Right - I had a visit from AWOODY on saturday - I would like to say thank you for all the interesting bits of info shared that I would never had known with out your aid. P.S - Nice woody!

Ok - after half an hour pottering around and taking things slowly we have found that it was a morris manufactured in the UK as a very basic package and looks to be delivered in 61 with the rear seat in it from factory. Spare wheel sits behind the passenger seat in a storage bin looking thing.... it even has a heater fitted! I am starting to get more enthusiastic about this project but the work gods may put an end to that alas but I will wait n see how it goes. Hoping I can restore this thing rather than be forced to move. Anyway - I am taking some pics and will forward them on to get posted up so you can all share my new found interest in this 61 smooth roofed van.... Thank you for the offer MINIVANMAN - will have them forwarded to you by end of the week.

Noticed I has a lot of what looked like factory tie down points fitted also - hoping this may have been fitted by the factory as part shipment to the navy?

Cheers

Mark

Ok people - pics are on the way - not very flattering -the car has sat there for nearly 10 years now with about 3 months of usage in between and has never been cleaned - I have started doing the roof briefly which is why it is so much brighter... like I said - minor nose damage only.

Things are not looking good with my work however so I may end up having to sell the old girl already . . . . not happy, trying to work a way out to keep it though.

Minivanman will have pics today so I look forward to seeing them up here.

Mk

Woohoo , finally we can see it :D . Interesting conversion and I definiteely wouldn't like to be in that seat in a rear collision , don't know how well it'd hold up (Tom , your's has brackets to hold the top of the seat doesn't it ?

Do the rear doors have the standard internal opener stopper thingo's at the top - and do they sit close to your head in the back seat?

Ian, nope  , some seem to have that brace that runs floor to roof on most vans - I have none of this brace - guess it was removed when the windows were put in. What held my seat from going backwards was two small brackets with rubber stoppers welded on the rear wheel arch near the top of the shock. (seat sits allot more forward than the one in the pics).

As far as safety, the pajero seat is much better as it bolts in, locks upright, and also folds forward... Brain hurting - thinking of what to do! Do you have any pics in the library of BMC seat conversion.

Fairly impressive legroom in the back though , not much space for shopping etc with kids in the back, less than a sedan ?

They were the ones I was thinking about , at least it's something rather than relying on steels hinges going up 6 " on a wooden back . Could always put a fold down brace from the top corners to the floor in front of the rear doors .

Nahh , nothing in the brochures here , several ute and van ones but no travellers (I'll have another look though to make sure :D )
