Hey these are road cars, on road tyres, not racers- yeah I know Borg's car was quick..
Last time we were doing around 1.18-1.21

just curious about the pace.... my first time on tarmac at Winton in '02 I was running 1:25's and the race prepped minis were doing 1:10's or something - in my every day road car (RIP) and the van is the my daily driver too - if I break it, I'll push/tow it out onto the road to the track and call NRMA for a tow home! that's what 'complete care' is for, isn't it?? they give you a hire car for a week or so, plenty of time to rebuild whatever is busted ready for next time

It does not matter how slow you are, there is always someone slower it is just for fun.

A full race prep lightweight sports sedan mini will go around there in under 1:10 Take no notice of lap records on web page they are outdated and are for the old track configuration which was slower.

I good race prepared supersprint mini will probably do 1:16 - 1:18. If you can get down to a genuine 1:18 in a road mini you are doing exceptionally well but the norm for a quick mini would be High 1:19 to 1:20s

On one day that we were timed Kev managed a 1:20 and I managed a 1:22 .. very next lap my bottom end crap itself.......

Oh well, the goal is 1:19 for me....... just gotta be quicker than the "SIlver Fox" ....

Mate I'd LOVE to come! 2 problems that I have

1) The weekday thing kind of sux... not sure about that
2) I am afraid my car won't be able to do 1 lap! Combination of drum brakes, fuel pump and stock engine. I just don't fancy being trailered home :?

Other than that I am keenly interested! Esp the ride bit :D

Josh had that same problem when we put a new clutch plate in- after much stuffing about we found it was the piston in the slave cylinder hitting the circlip.
This is because when you fit a new plate, the clutch arm is further out than normal.
Worth a check if not already...

Dr Mini Tip#3 ;)

The bastard of a thing! Nothing like sitting in a car with the engine running for the first time in a while unable to get any forward motion going on.

have not checked that one yet, i am getting alot of movement in the clutch arm and the nuts are not butting up against the housing so i will look at the slave cyl.

lightened flywheel and you forgot the spacers?? can you pull the arm out and feel the pressure plate, or does the arm run out of movement against the cover?

it's easy enough to take the clutch cover off and get the flywheel off without pulling the engine, just getting to that last bolt behind the cover is a bitch. Undo the engine steady and drivers engine mount (obviously) and jack up the clutch side of the motor a couple of inches and you'll get the cover off
