The Bridgestones (and the Falken 165/70-10s) seem lots worse in the wet when they get old and hard. Even if they have heaps of tread depth.

I've got buckets of tread left on my Bridgestones, and the compound is quite hard. No idea how old they are, but no obvious signs of ageing.

After wearing out 2 sets, I'd rate the Dunlop SP9000 195/45x13 as "Great" to "Excellent" in dry or wet - when compared to other wide 13 inch road tyres - but probably drop that back to "Good" when compared to narrower and/or smaller diameter tyres.

i think the pirellis are about $200 a tyre if you can still get them, and i would rate them as a sports tyre.

Not on the list and probably shouldn't be, but I have Mabor tyres on the front of mine.
Great in the dry - Scare the pants off you in the Wet.

I have Bridgestones on the back, if I lock up in the wet they are like ice skates
Its actually scary driving it in the wet...

Ill get the 'model' number of mine this afternoon and update... just in case anyone found them I wouldnt recommend.

Oh and the table is looking great mate...

Peter.

this is a really great idea, and thanks heaps for making it happen.

I think you have over priced the A008s as i had mine fitted and balanced for $105 and most other places quoted me around $115.

Also the falken 165/70/10 are decent in the dry but outright dangerous in the wet (should be rated poor, not average)

Thanks again for your efforts.

Ryan

yeah i had mabors on one of my minis for awhile..
i had to swerve to avoid another car and span a few times going up old norton summit road..

i just remember my instincts kicked in and my hands and feet were doing stuff automatically to control the mini..
if i hadnt i would have crashed for sure.

one thing i will never ever do is run different tyres on the front and back though.

It depends where you get your quote from. I have noticed (just reading posts on here) that if you are in a big city tyre prices are heaps cheaper. When I was looking around for A008's the cheapest price I got was $120 fitted & balanced but the dearest was $140 / tyre fitted & balanced.

I'll change it to $115 then (but it will be the same situation for every single tyre in the list - this is just supposed to be a guide on price)

Mabor's.....

The only time I've ever gone sideways in a Mini, in the dry and almost hit a tree. And they didn't alst very long at all, I got 8,000km out of a brnad new set. Rears lasted but I just kept spinning the fronts. (I swapped the reas and fronts at around 5000kms)

I swerved as a car was on the wrong side of the road near my house on a blind corner. I was doing approx 60kph. The car did not stop to see if I was OK. At Collingrove hillclimb on all the hair pins I was swiging the back end around, no grip at all.

Also they require slow take offs. Any use of the accelerator results in zero acceleration. Back then, with 50hp atws, if I let the clutch out at 2500rpm it would spin like silly, so when I supercharged it I promptly changed to D93J's. Alothugh crappy tyres can be good fun though.... - But dangerous on the road.

Ok, I have done some more updates and the table is ALMOST there. While I was at it I added commonly used tyre pressure's as well (I know Spaceboy will be happy :D )

Another update of the table:

If it's of any value, I got a quote last week for A008's from Beaurepaires South Melbourne, they were asking $130 fitted/balanced. When I queried them on the highish price (quoting others here who'd bought recently for less than $120) they responded that tyre prices in general have gone up with the price of oil. Take that with a grain of salt, but there you are.

I'd be thrilled to find A008's for $115... if anyone knows where in Melbourne I can find that price, please PM me :D

Cheapest place in Sydney for A008s in the last year has been Bob Jane.
Last quote I got was $105 fitted, earlier this year.

I got Hankook's fitted a few weeks back.

Centum K702 - sizes - http://www.hankooktyre.com.au/V2/products/product_detail.asp?search=pcr&id=1094

I got 145/70 R12's for just under $100 fitted each.

Can't speak for the wear rate although the garage reckoned they were pretty average

I'd say that grip level in both wet and dry is good. I'm comparing with my most recent set of tyres which were Roadstone cheapos but they're as good as any i've had on my old mini in the UK (think i mainly had Dunlops or Pirellis back then)
