k, the wiring diagram shows a little terminal (closest to engine) which I connected the brown with yellow trace.
the middle one I connected the brown
and the other big terminal (closest to front of the car) I connected the brown with blue trace.

which ones wrong?

I disconnected the brown with blue trace and put the brown in its spot.
Still the same problem, so it looks like the alternator is buggered.
Ive pulled it off, taking it to an auto sparky to be checked out now ;)

I took the alternator to the auto sparky, he reckoned it needed some part replacing $44 and labour $45, so $99 later, I put it back in and.. still same problem, the red dash light is on even when the key is out of the ignition. I no doubt have some shorts somewhere so will just get on with fixing the reversing lights, tacho (cant be that as its not connected at all, but it needs doing). I tried the indicators, they just glow continuous so will be pulling out all the globes and cleaning them up... I'll get there.

I dont know how to wire my tacho though.

Its got 4 thin wires out of it, one red, one white, one green and a black. Does anyone know which wires go where?

I was just wondering what terminal on the alternator is the aux one?

I am assuming its a fat one?

I have a solid brown one with a fat end and a smaller wire with a yellow trace,

is it the outer most one or the middle one?

thanks guys
